Alaskan cruises only run from about late April to late September. Where I live is one of the first ports of call on Alaskan cruises originating from Seattle or Vancouver.

The cruise up the Inside Passage along the BC coast is absolutely beautiful (done half of it on a sailboat) and well worth the few extra days.

I hear cruises around the Mediterranean are pretty popular, but it might be the kind of "popular" that all the fatass Brits clogging up Spain enjoy.

bumping this shit for my own purpose:

Roommates are thinking of taking a cruise for spring break (3-4 nights) and it'll probably be to the Caribbean since we're already in Florida so we're kind of right there.

What's the best option for college students, who aren't willing to spend more than $400 on the cruise (after taxes and all)? We don't really want to be on a boat with a lot of families or older fucks since there's enough of them around campus as it is.

Um, I think the Carnival line runs cruises that are more youth-oriented than most. Though I think they also do a lot of family-oriented stuff too, but given that you Americans have common Spring Break dates, I wouldn't be surprised if there are cruise lines that run a boat for the young wanting to drink and fuck on a ship.

Caribbean cruises around Spring Break are packed with other people on Spring Break. Have fun and don't fall off the ship.

The thing I'm worried about is that our spring break is a week before the majority (First week of march), Royal Carribean is cheaper, I just want to make sure I'm not shuffleboarding with the old women before I sleep with them.

I went years ago in a 7 days caribbean ship from puerto rico, it included saint thomas, barbados, saint martheen (best island by far), santa lucia, guadalupe, everyday you stop on an island so you don't feel you are trapped on a boat.

I assume since you are coming from winter weather, a caribbean trip would be nice.

Ouch, that's tough. Still a few big schools with breaks at that time though. If you're worried about it, take a cruise that stops on the islands. I like sea days better, but if you've got time to party on the actual islands, many of the clubs will cater solely to tourists. Friend of mine goes to med school out on St Maarten and hates coming back to NY for Spring Break.

The thing with cruises, however, is they don't get you on the ticket price. That's just a base cost and they run those very cheap, well below cost. Where they get you is on the ship. Once on you have to pay for EVERYTHING and there is only one seller - the cruise line - so prices are very high. They'll even set up accounts on your credit card so you don't even reallise how much you're spending. Every floor has multiple shops and restaurants. The gambling is insane.

You might do better on a Carribbean island for a week, lying on a beach.

Isn't food included in the ticket price? I'm not shopping around for shit, just booze and poker.

A lot of tickets will include food, at one meal a day, at some subpar hard to find restaurant on a weird deck you're not situated on. They don't include all the chain restaurants that are handy and yummy smelling. Those you have to pay for, and pay for big.

Look into it, you might find some kind of meal plan/voucher deal out there that exists now due to the economy. One of those things you really gotta shop around with I guess.

For a minute I thought you referred to "cruising" as a couple.

You've been on some shit-ass cruises if that's what you've had to deal with.

Nah, I've never been on a cruise myself. Sounds incredibly boring honestly. Just relating stories from relatives and friends. Seems reasonable enough. That's the same operating principle of movie theatres. The cost of movie tickets are low but they get you on the food.

Maybe it's just the cruises I've been on, but the only thing I've ever had to pay for was liquor.
