Irresponsible use of the list:
Driving someone out of your neighborhood
Checking on everyone you know, hoping to find someone to lynch
As for privacy, would people be happy if names, addresses, numbers, etc. were not available and the map merely showed nameless dots so you can know what neighborhoods are better than others? With the ability to search someone's name, that would turn up their conviction history but not address, number, etc.
Is that a decent compromise? Because I'm not arguing the privacy issue, I'm arguing the value to prudent parents. People can still use the list responsibly without the privacy violation, and I think that's what's getting to most people.
