Edit: Just finished Ocarina of Time+Majora's Mask though, such fun memories...
Wanna try something really fun? Find a friend (or a group) and beat Ocarina of Time half blind. One person with the controller who can't see the screen and another person who can see the screen giving commands. We managed to do this and it was...well interesting.

Because it's probably still worse than Perdu or Moli?

death +1 beats perdu for caped accuracy, so this scythe destroys it all the time ( with sword strap of course).

I have seen a death scythe with D+2 (D99), Accuracy+5, it would destroy Perdu.

No due to delay difference. Even with sword strap it would be at 513 delay still. death +1 with sword strap is 498 delay.

    so ~20 dly > 5 base dmg?

Never rly understood why death+1 isnt king pin with the higher base damage

No, you just need 3/4 hits with guillotine. You can also use sword strap if you happen to possess an Aurum Cuirass.

The death scythe would be handy if you had the means to 5-hit it.

Base DMG means less as you get higher and higher in terms of base damage, simply because the proportion 5 is adding becomes less in this case.

To give an example, supposing you were going DMG 30 => 35 (on a Dagger for instance); that increase would be 5/30 or 16.7% because 5 is an appreciable fraction of 30. Using a Scythe of DMG 93 => 98 however is 5/93 = 5.38%.... much smaller, because 5 is a much smaller fraction of 93. This becomes even less when you consider fSTR, and WSC on weaponskills.

not to mention a higher base dmg has pretty much zero chance ( unless its stacks by huge amounts) of making you do more damage on a merit mob for example ( or mobs with similar kill time). your parser will say you do more, but its not the case: it only increases your "overkill" damage typically, unlike delay/haste/acc, that increase your kill speed.

Hey uhhh, haven't really read as far as to if it just purely depends on the slot (partially because I don't know where to find in-depth information about the augmenting system), but you can get +attack on a Triumph(Ruby) Ring, right? I've seen Flame Rings with it, but I want to make sure before I hurl my Triumph into the fire.

If it's not too many pages away from here, my mistake.

Honestly, from the past augments posted in this thread that I've seen it seems as if you have a higher chance at worthwhile augments on Ruby rings as opposed to trying your Triumph.

Only because you've seen more ruby augmens than triumph.

Exactly. Not many people want to chance fucking up their triumphs.

it's not as much of an increase, but I would have thought that surely 5 base DMG is worth more than 12(i think) delay. Or does the Acc from perdu tip the balance in it's favour?
Would you use perdu if it didnt have the Acc bonus?

No, every stat gives you a "chance" to make it die faster, and a a very likely scenario that it does nothing on any given mob. a 1% difference in anything isn't noticeable, but when you stack them all up from various sources on various stats...sure, some mobs will die same speed and get overkilled more, and some will die faster and save swings. Haste/delay/acc are in the same boat as damage and attack here...

No, haste reduces the killing time even if it doesn't save you a hit. Attack doesn't. What's better to PL a level 5 job (aka mobs that die in 2-4 hits) ? Double march or double minuet ? The answer is double march obviously.
