The guild name is 일당백 which means a man with the strength of 100 men. The log just says stuff like "He went down already?!" and "He went down again." There one guy who spammed 3 things, but between the blurriness of the chat log and the way he types, I'm not entirely sure what he said. It looks like he challenged your friend to "try following us again."

At least they let him watch the fight I guess.
did they just gang up on that guy because he was watching them fight a pretty cool looking bird/dragon?

wut? I assume you mean the island of dawn, which MIGHT be the size of freemarch+stonefield but I think that's even stretching it.

I think that's quite a few years off, even for hardware to do that much work.

Didn't see anything related to gameguard all weekend, but I didn't look for processes or anything.

According to this post (made in July '10) they won't be using Game Guard.

Can't stress how nasty that sounds. :3

Pretty much. Loli was actually end game when end game pretty much just started in Korea, so they're considered competition. I've actually had a situation in which I felt the love from a Korean myself. That might have been a result to us accidentally pulling an entire room and almost MPKing her, but she went pretty ballistic after that. Pretty sure that's the only case in which that has ever happened to me though.

e: On the other hand, I have gone through quite a few seals PKing the shit out of everyone I see can be killed by my GF and I already. I'm sure I'm pretty popular in the open PK continent for the time being. :3

Was ill a bit after I started playing so didn't log in for about a week, I think the rest of the time was spent outside your timezone or not logged on (just got KTera to try it/classes out so I'm not putting much effort and time into it)

Yeah, definitely some gross exaggerations about zone size comparisons. Frankly, a zone being larger doesn't make it better. Hinges more on what they do with that space. This usually means you either get a wide variance in level ranges of mobs/quests or just a whole bunch of wasted space since, once initial rush of newness wanes, places will become ghost towns. And while I'm not a PvP fan, the larger a zone, the more difficult it could be to find prey, too.

Overall, I think channels are good, but with the above in mind, as the newness wanes and players spread out across level ranges, the total number available should dwindle down to eventually 2. Aion did this with their starter areas, and I'd say the game would've been absolute hell at NA launch without it.

Zones being large does not make them better. XIV is a prime example of this. Each zone was pretty fuckin ugly and copy / pasted all over the place

It seems people keep repeating the previous poster. Hmm..

Game isn't FFXIV. These zones are not pretty fuckin ugly and copy / pasted all over the place.

@ Fenux: No gameguard of any kind. Fraps works like a champ. iirc EME said they had no plans to use gameguard or any other sort of "anti cheat" programs.

@ Cloudius: I asked about the berserker tank because I will be playing with 3 other people. So far we have a Priest, Mystic, Berserker and a Warrior. Last weekend though my friend tried out Slayer and really liked it. In all previous tests we've only ever really got to the high teens level wise and a tank wasnt really "needed" However I dont want us to set up a group that will fail on content later on. Basically trying to decide if I should drop berserker to take up lancer or try to nudge her back to staying on War.

(note: these are RL friends who played FFXI with me: they are skilled players so even if something is a challange or really hard, but dooable, we are up for it)

All melee DPS can work as sub tanks. For the 21/27/38/etc instances, if you plan on going in ASAP(1 level earlier) You will definitely want a Lancer. If you plan on 5 manning it 1 level above recommendation, which is totally fine, as all the mobs still con the same, any skilled DPS can sub tank by bouncing hate. Not to mention you have a Warrior, which is actually categorized as tank, due to the high amount of aggro skills it has.

The problem is building a static with people you will play with entirely. If you were to be playing K-TERA, or if the difficulty of Akasha's Lair or even Golden Labyrinth were to stay the same for NA retail, then I can guarantee you will get absolutely nowhere with a Berserker tank, even with a Priest/Mystic combo, which is imba as shit by default. You'd want a Lancer in your set if you're planning on making a 5 man static from the get-go. If you're OK with searching for Lancer end game, then you're more than OK grinding up to level cap with just sub tanks.

I'm also aware that the minimum level cap for NA release is already set to 58, but I was saying if the end game difficulty stays the same, dungeon wise. :3

You are a srs XIV hater, in which I approve. Any game released in that state deserves all the shit it's been given.

Environments I'll give for sure (though I'm with you overall with the colour/saturation), characters it is as you say... it's style vs quality for the most part though, and while style is totally subjective, quality generally isn't.

@Fenux: Yeah, I realize the short comings of a set party, let alone a 4 man set party. Its something we've decided on after considering many factors. I don't mind taking the hit and changing to Lancer if its for the betterment of the group. My War friend is a fine player and she's probably one of the more "hardcore" people in our group but I'd like for her to enjoy what she plays too. Just looking for opinions from experiences players now to help me make decisions for later on when game hits shelves here. CBT and OBT will help a lot in testing out group mixes but we dont plan to play nonstop or anything, we still want a good chunk of the game to be "new" when we play it via retail.

So then is most of the endgame content designed around groups of 5, as opposed to FFXI/XIV/WoW/etc where it's designed around substantially larger groups in most situations?

^ Yes, most instances etc are for 5 man parties or a 10 man group.
