Dunno if the pc cafe thing they have going on helps mitigate that issue, maybe.
Trailer in HD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2N-naGRlhs
Looks like they have come a looooong way from fgt2. I don't think I have enough time for 2011 ;;
Its late, but I like that you can actually, well, you know, do things in this game, at least from the trailers of in-game action. Its not simply a canned animation on some invisible object. You can interact with at least parts of the environment. Break a door down, or climb a hill. Its not simply zone >> zone >> zone, with everything relegated to stiff animations and cutscenes.
I really hope this game is a success, a big one.
I want this to be the style of game that people copy for the next few years (assuming it's as good as it looks)
I agree Domon, this is THE game I'm looking forward to in 2011. I know Rift and GW2 will prolly also be up there, but TERA is the game I'm most pumped for in delivering a new experience for mmo's.
Is that trailer for the release of OB date? Either way, it should be released in 2/11 at the latest.. so hopefully a NA release shortly after
Yeah, 1.11.11 is korean open beta. I managed to get me an account, although not sure how fun it'll be when I can't read anything in game~ Shouldn't be too bad though. A friend in my XIV LS would always talk about this game, started looking into it a month ago since XIV crashed and burned. Definitely looking forward to raping some face. I think the game'll do just fine `-`
Probably gonna add another impact gaming chapter for this game once we get a release date and i hire a gm to handle to details of setting up the guild. Lotsa interest in my gaming comm. for this mmo, and it looks great. Anyone partial to K-grinders are gonna be all over this like white on rice.
Don't think this game is grind heavy like most K-mmo's. I'm sure it will have it's moments of grinding (all games do aside WoW), but I don't believe it's going to be anywhere near as extensive as.. like.. Aion was where your do elite quests that give shit for XP and your stuck grinding for levels on end.
Hopefully get some more info on PVP after open beta. Looks like Mystic is one of the top pvp classes right now, but I think a lot of that's going to change by the time we hit release. One of the big letdowns for me for XI and XIV, was lack of any good PVP. Only "pvp" that was any exciting was old school Fafnir and Tiamat camping.
I hate K-grinders, and typically hate K-MMOs, but this one seems like the only thing I can tell screams "KOREA~!!" is the hilarious flopping of tits and skin everywhere, and the androgynous men flippantly skipping about.
The game looks to have solid fundamentals outside of "make them grind 5 hours for that level while offering goodies out of the cash shop to speed it up."
Castanics are definitely man-whores.
I don't care about grind if the game play is good. The thing I hate most about grinding (or MMOs in general when it comes to fighting) is downtime. If I can solo with good speed, have fun and do it without stopping then I'll be happy.
The game play looks interesting, but I worry it'll just be a shallow action game with limited movesets and classes based on appearance. I absolutely HATE classes based on appearance. I like to make my own character, and have them do what I want them to do. Though I understand why they would limit appearances, it makes it easier to do unique animations (and cooler ones), but everyone looks the same and that bugs me.
I say these things just based on the above trailer though, which looks good. I'm eager to try this out.
I prefer the way this game looks over Rift, but i just have this nagging suspicion that ultimately this game is going to be more aggravating and dull to play than Rift. The latter may look much better than WoW, but i still dislike the way it looks. Yet if FFXIV has shown me anything, it is that looks are most definitely deceiving.
I want to be a Castonic man-whore. I want to hump things.
Hump away, Kuya. My two biggest games right now are still Rift and GW2, with D3 coming at a distant third because of, well, the sheer distance of it.
That's the only thing for me. If they put in good action fights that require strategy (w/I would like to think they are doing), then the game will be awesome. I think I read an interview where regular mobs even have move sets that will require you to dodge and do stuff other then just spam atk buttons while straight tanking. This gives me hope that all important fights will always require strategy and ppl to learn to dodge, cripple, ect.. mobs and look for their weakness. I remember them saying that a really good / skilled player will be able to do higher lv content before being properly "geared" due to their skill.
I wonder if the climbing shown in the trailer will actually be an aspect to the world, or if that was just for a cs. It sure as hell wasn't in the last domestic test here.
The average player doesn't have high lag though, usually between 50-100ms, so they shouldn't need to adjust fights for ppl w/above average lag.
