From what i've been reading, this game will have more than enough quests to not require grinding. I don't know if that's enough anymore though.

I'm addicted to Dynamic Content now as a secondary form of leveling, along with quests. I don't believe this game has any, but i could be wrong.

I ran around with a group in Rift last night for hours fighting off invasions, which didn't feel like grinding at all.

Rift felt as much like grinding as anything else I've ever played. It's maybe harder to notice because (what I played) was the most egregious theme park I've ever seen, and because leveling up wasn't enough of an increase in strength to look forward to.

What's the deal with this OBT? I've had a hangame account forever for all my korean MMO musings, but this game seems to want additional verification to download the client. SMS/Credit Card/Bank information to prove that I'm Korean, from what I can gather from google translate? What, the fake KSSN and birthdate information isn't enough anymore? Grr.

Though from what I see from Beta PvP videos, it looks like ass anyway. But still would have liked to try it for myself.

I think it is an actual aspect to the world, pretty sure I saw some people in the korean beta running around and climbing up things like in the CS.

As for mobs, mob AI should be good, not sure how good though, but they said it's something they'd be working on. Playing a Berserker, if you block a mob (frontal) too long, they'll try and attack you from the side.

Nope, unless you know someone in Korea willing to give out his account or you buy one from shady websites, it's pretty much impossible to sign up for the KR OBT.

Still, quite a number of people on Tera Fans are going to play anyway. So should be getting some new videos/info soon.

You can still sign up here for NA/EU tests though.

Here's a vid of ArcheAge beta which seems to have the same climbing aspect. Game looks really similar minus the targeting of course.

Game already looks three times better than XIV, simply because of what you can do in the game. A bridge gets blown up? Cool, its not in some far off area that you can't reach, and you don't have to go through 3 loading screens to get to it. What? You were on the bridge? You fall into the water? You can SWIM? You can climb back up?!!

Its like you're actually playing a game instead of hitting 1 over and over again to collect SP, then writing that off as content.

Spells interact with the environment, and have a (relatively) lasting effect on it. These aren't new concepts, but boy do they look wonderful in practice instead of in some scripted cutscene that you'll never be able to replicate in actual gameplay.

What's this? A UI built around the mouse and keyboard? Surely you jest! And its not even in retail yet!

Pretty lame, but I guess i've gotten enough goodness out of that hangame account not to complain. Everybody I've talked to has basically told me that the targeting and fight mechanics are crap anyway, and that every fight boils down to this:

And you know this shit is going to suck on a gamepad, just look at it. It's impossible to please both schemes unless you make two entirely different systems with a toggle.

Why you trolling? Anybody who knows anything about the game knows there is NO TARGETING system in the game. Your very first post in this thread was negative when you knew like nothing about it, and every subsequent post has been negative, just wondering why you even came in this thread to post? And who have you talked to about the game to say it sucks so much? Because, as far as I know, NA beta has been extremely limited and infrequent.. the few who have been in the beta have had nothing but positive stuff to say about it. And you posted a 45 second video to prove your point that I don't even know what it was... wtf? If you looked at any other video's, even some posted in the OP, you would notice a lot of fights require a lot more strategy then one 45 second video of a mage fighting a random player

And gamepad and n/k is very easy to do both, XI did it very well and so have other mmo's. You design moving around to controller and you still use the keyboard for a lot of stuff.. and you make it easier to strafe and dodge and do a few mandatory things on the gamepad. But your posts make no sense in this thread aside to talk random shit that doesn't even make sense. Sounds like you have so much pent up XIV hate that you came into another thread to shit it up w/ saying that since XIV can't do it, another mmo cant. And yes, a lot of other games do make 2 diff systems w/ a toggle, shit isnt hard to do

I was curious about the targeting because on paper it seems quite skill-based, and my wetdream is an MMOFPS(comonnnn Titan). But everything I've heard about it is clunky/laggy and basically requires you to be stationary to avoid whiffing, as the sorc duel vid shows. If it came off as trolling I didnt mean to be, maybe just bitter that my hangame account won't allow me to see it for myself ;p

Though, lol @ saying that XI did the mouse 'very well'. I'm trolling?

Clearly you haven't used that account in a long time. They have required a K-cellphone for quite some time now, which isn't a problem for some of us~

Either Aion or C9 was the last time it got used I think ;; Dang. I can still login and everything, and only get the extra steps for verification when I go to download the client. I'm half wondering if I can torrent the client, and login with the account info I already have?
