Yeah, pretty much. Although I have a feeling Boxer will be taken by the time I'm allowed to make an alt. That's if someone doesn't fuck me with Foxer to begin with.

Semi real info: If anyone applied to J-Tera closed beta, apparently invites have gone out. GL!
JP-TERA Retail: July 29th.
Expect beta soon, bitches!
JPONRY
Do we have any idea of a retail here? If it comes out September 16-19 I will shoot someone....just booked a weekend trip to NYC.
Unlikely I'd say.
I will seriously eat someone...Foxer give me hope
Games are usually on Tuesday, so I think you're safe.
edit: but if there is a head start thing...
THEN I WILL DECLARE IT YOUR FAULT AND STRIKE YOU DOWN qq
I just hope it comes out once I am BACK and not the week I am leaving.
I'd guess end of September'ish. They aren't doing serious bug testing and they don't care about combat feedback. Combat won't change at all. They are mainly looking for translation errors and bugs relating to the things they have changed for the Western audience. They shouldn't need more then 1-2 month beta
If it comes out the 6th (current estimated date of retailers) then I will be fine. I really don't want it to come out the 13th .-.;;
Has anyone (Foxer) decided on a guild name or anything?
Name should have some od' to XI!
Tera Defense Force

So, now that the beta is imminent, i have an open question.
What feature or aspect of TERA are you excited for the most and why?
Battle system and Lolis <3
Combat & Races for me. graphics are really good and lush, but that doesn't make a game good.. well nor does races, but it helps.
Combat is fresh, different, and it's a new thing to mmo's (least in the west). From what I understand, targeting is a limitation in mmo's since its significantly easier for the server to register an action based on your target and whats around it. It's how mmo's process atk data, depth, distance, ect... Them moving away from targeting is a more advanced / complicated approach, especially since it seems like they have done it well. It's an action game approach.
Why did you, if you did, play XI for so many years? It was most likely because of the combat.. I mean XI is based around grinding, so if you don't fall in love w/ the combat then your SoL. But a game where it's based on reflexes and skill is going to be very fun for me. If you don't get hit, you can kill mobs much higher level then you. It's a nice concept. Boss mechanics that involve a lot of moving around are rare in mmo's if your not a tank. Yes, you move out of fire and all of that stuff... but how often do you move to avoid a swing?
And races are awesome. Prolly the most diverse races since XI (imo).
The biggest thing for me is probably the combat system. I think it places more of an emphasis on skill and less on random damage formulas and miss chances and such. I can actually move out of the way of a monster swinging his big axe at me and avoid the damage completely rather than just relying on a check against my avoidance/defense/etc.
The other thing is that I've always been a huge fan of the visuals in Korean MMO's. I don't know what it is, but their big name titles always seem to have amazing art. The downside to that was that most traditional Korean MMO's I've played had shitty gameplay mechanics (steep leveling requirements, forced PvP, shoddy UI implementation/controls, etc). Tera is the first game I've found that combines the Korean art style with the western gameplay mechanics I've come to love. The UI is intuitive and well executed, the mouse/keyboard control scheme is what we've come to expect out of a next-gen MMO, the combat is fun, it's not overly grindy, and it has instances and different server rulesets (PvP/PvE).
This has been the first MMO since WoW that, in my opinion, has done so many things right. If the game can shake off the stigma associated with being a Korean MMO, I really feel like it can do well in the Western market.
