Barrens Chat infects every game with a global chat. Tera will be no different, heh.

Barrens chat infects every game period. FFXI didn't have a global channel but I'm sure most of us can remember Jeuno shouts. And who cares? It can be mildly entertaining, and if you don't like it you can filter it. I'd prefer a game to have a throwaway global "General" channel for shit like that, otherwise it ends up in trade/LFG/some other channel with a specific purpose and renders it useless.
No disagreement there, its just that I made copious use of the filters during Rift's beta. Still, its better than the alternative, like XIV, where no one talks, ever.
So no confirmation or comment on English speakers being banned from KOBT?
Either way, even w/o a LFG tool (which I'm sure will be added in future patches as that will be a #1 complaint amongst all users), the player economy will all go to one city, ect... for where they do their shouts. I'm sure there is also a search function
Nah, no one's getting banned.
Edit: Was reading the previous page and people asking about graphics cards and how they run the game. I'm running default reso; 1680 x 1050, AA set at 2 or 0, with everything set at medium or high, whatever default is and the game looks and runs absolutely stunning. Runs and looks better than FFXI/FXIV. Looks better and handles lag better than even Aion, despite being on Korean servers, at least with my specs. Mind you, I only have a 9800GTX SC. Unreal 3, baby.
Same settings running a PC build specifically for FFXIV, in Sept. Game looks MAYBE a little better and runs practically the same, at times of heavy population(in major cities), maybe getting a few more FPS than mine.
For a better reference, I used to run FFXI at 1280 x 800, AA set at 2, capped FPS but ran like shit anywhere populated or nearly populated(common problem).
I ran FFXIV at 1280 x 720, AA set at 2, averaged 30 FPS and ran like shit basically everywhere mainly due to how poorly UI and game was made.
I ran Aion at 1680 x 1050, AA set to 2, averaged 60-80 FPS. Sanctum ran anywhere from 10-20 FPS on average. Abyss grind was around 40-50 FPS with Fort raids dropping me to as low as 2-5 FPS(rare).
I run Tera at 1680 x 1050, AA set to 2, average 50-60 FPS with my lag spikes dipping me to around 30 FPS(rare) on major cities, not small towns. Also seen up to 60+ channels already, so lag and camps being over-camped is absolutely NOT an issue.
tl;dr:
For as good as Tera looks, it runs absolutely beautifully so don't hesitate to try it out as soon as you can. For people who built PCs specifically for FFXIV, you are going to mop the floor with this game.
Sorry for long, maybe useless edit. Just trying to share some insight on how game runs in comparison to the better looking MMOs out there.
Some pics you all might have seen already.
Spoiler: show
Sorry for the re-size.
OBT set to last for 2 weeks I believe. Game should be coming out Feb in SK. I am still 99% sure about 4-5 months after SK release for some NA testing. Game is set to release in JP at the end of Q2 with NA testing to begin 1 month after JP release. Looking like a July~ testing period for us with a late summer release, hopefully.
Thx for the pics, looks awsome.
I am getting a message that says "MARSSPEAK 05:00~11:00"
I'm assuming maintenance?
I can't say for TERA, but Hangame does have a habit of banning English accounts for some games. I played Monster Hunter Frontier with them and there is tons of English players and I didn't ever hear of anyone getting banned. But I had my account blocked after playing C9 for a while. Another thing to look out for is occasionally they'll do a KSSN check, I'm assuming the site you got your account from sent you the KSSN used on that account so you should be fine though.
Haven't had any problems or heard of any of my friends being banned. Just have a korean character name (if you need one I can help to some extent, I know a little Hangul. You can't copy and paste in game so you'll need to activate Korean IME on your keyboard and put it in manually) and don't type in english in game. I've been told by several people that Hangame has told Korean players to report any English speaking players they see in game, so just stick to VOIP communication if you're playing with friends.
Loving the game so far. I'm running a Core 2 Duo (Overclocked 4.0ghz) and a HD 4870 and I'm running the game on max settings at like 30-40 FPS, so if you have a decent computer then you'll be fine. This game really feels like PSO with me with more action elements like jumping and teleporting, and since I was a geek for that game I'm really enjoying myself.
What server are you guys on? I'd like to be with some bg peeps when I finally get on.
I'm on Mystral, as are most of the English community.
Same, I'm on Mystel. The 2 big English speaking servers are Mustel and Dagon. I chose it because it was big on TERAFans but I play with a set so not in any guild. They got too focused on trying to be as Korean as possible that they don't even talk in game anymore. Game is 110% straight forward and half the Koreans have English names so it doesn't matter as long as you got people to play with.
My name is FoxeR, hope to see you in-game.
Nah, man. They don't ban people. Hangame is not as bad as NC and NC wasn't even that terrible. Remember, OBT was scheduled for 2 weeks so hurry if you wanna play. I don't even care about getting banned if it's this short anyway. I don't type in anything but English so it's all good I would say.
Glad to know that the game runs that good on your current pc fenux, i can't believe you haven't upgraded that shit since. Seems like i'll have no probs running it on my current build. Maybe i should get the OBT acct for $12 to try it out. Of course I won't type anything. lol
the loli's look really cute in those SS's. somebody take some pic's of the elves and castanics for me!
