What exactly are you looking to have compared? I played C9 years ago, so my memory may be hazy, but it stacks up pretty well imo. Less diversity obviously, but from a technical standpoint I actually like it better. I can't shake the feeling of lag with the current gameplay in TERA. Projectile damage doesn't pop up until the missles are 5 feet behind/through my targets in PvE. In PvP, I've had a ton of 'fuck i missed' moments only to see damage pop up anyway or vice versa. Id blame korean latency, but since targeting was similar in C9 and I don't remember it being as prevalent. But again, my wegame informs me that I'm reminiscing back to august 09 and could be misremembering how awesome I thought C9 was.

Don't get crazy ;p Animation/style points blows 14 out of the water, but from a technical standpoint it's not even in the same league. There's good reason XIV runs like ass on weak systems.

^ Its also poorly optimized, but your point still stands. I think this game's lush, full style really compliments its graphical engine. They aren't afraid to go nuts with the color wheel, and it shows. It looks like a less technological PSO's big brother on steroids.

If you get an account from the newgameway site, can you use that same account to play korean retail?

FFXIV ran pretty bad due to terrible UI, IMO, not just on weak systems. Most people quit the game within the first month so we don't know of any adjustments that have been made, which are probably not much, sadly.
As far as graphics go, I still think TERA outclasses FFXIV, while both games are running at 1080p, 8x AA, with the super smooth(TERA has a little more trimmings). Two different styles, yeah, but both can be compared. TERA's a more exaggerated look versus a more realistic look if FFXIV, but the one that looks better in more situations than the other is TERA, hands down. Don't get me wrong, FFXIV looks unbelievably good, but that's how well this game matches up graphically and technically.

And TERA does start to run like ass at points where you have 5000 people logged into the server, but they know how to cheat on textures and prioritize what loads to help all that out. Changing channel works wonders, but you're not the only one doing that.

***The more important advantage TERA has over games like Aion and FFXIV is that it has plenty of things to do. I guess that's what happens when you play a game that has been in beta for 1.5 years, and CBT after CBT, the UI, animations, and textures have been improving.

They will probably ask for more verification for that KSSN or account but should be able to NP seeing as how TERA is going to run off the hangame site.

This is the most important aspect to me. How much content are the people playing seeing? What's there to do other than quest/grind? I'm sure this may be difficult to answer seeing as everything is in Korean, but i'm curious.

Interesting... I was honestly thinking that Warrior was looking to be the hardest class to play properly: They don't just have to worry about holding aggro, they have to worry about holding aggro while moving all over the place to avoid damage and timing their invincibility rolls. So what classes are 4 and 5 star difficulty? Priest? Mystic? Actually, would you be able to list the difficulty rating for each class?

Is this rating system in game?

Yeah, Priest is 4 and Mystic is 5. I'm playing Priest and hella hard to keep tanks alive sometimes. Mainly because we're a 3 man set in anything we do but still, it's more like FFXI difficulty due to how weak mages are here. Whatever aerial move hits Popo for around 1000 with shield up, hits him for about 4000 with shield down. That same move hits me for around 7000 and almost guarantees a knockdown and/or DoT. At this point, I have around 12200kHP with 120% heart and around 90000HP with 0% heart, so it can be an easy one-shot or combo kill. They make sure jobs are balanced and needed in this game and make sure Priests and Mystics take advantage of the speed boost and possible speed buffs you have while not engaged, so yeah, you're gonna do a lot more healing than DPSing lol. So since Priest and Mystic are such needed jobs, they make them the hardest to play. It's actually awesome in the sense that it reminds me a lot of FFXI.

***Yeah, the rating system is in game while creating your character(s). Before you make your choice, it shows you a rating of 1-5 stars.
    I believe it's:
    Mystic 5
    Priest 4
    Lancer 3
    Sorcerer 3
    Warrior 3
    Berserker 2
    Gladiator 2
    Ranger 2

There is an enormous Korean player's write up on Berserker's play from 1-38 and their difficulty and potential end-game, so I may have gotten the stars mixed up on War and Berk.

Race won't affect class difficulty, but there are different hit box sizes and racial traits in the game to make it more suited towards the race a player picks. Let's say an Elite does a breath frontal attack, the Poporis and Elins have a much better chance of just walking under it, while the taller, bigger races are almost guaranteed to get hit by it. Castanics, for example, have crit +1% from attacking from behind and a movement speed buff while in combat(hence people tanking effectively on War) so that helps. Not really making the job easier, just helping you be better at it potential wise. Again, I don't know if any of these racial traits will hit the western audience.

Sorry for late response and edit. Was watching GSL and didn't til after last post.

Well, having gear worth getting IMO is important. You see many times in games such as FFXI, where you use level 7 boots all the way through end-game on certain situations. I know the standards are dif in 2010/2011 but having all these 'standard' new-gen MMO gems are incredible. I love hitting level 35 and knowing I'm that much better than before. It seems older games were just level 1, level cap, and everything in between rendered absolutely worthless because nothing was worth doing throughout the grind.

Bosses catered to helping you gear yourself(best gear along with raid bosses and enhanced versions of WB/raid gear) is very important. The gear system here is very much like Aion in this game where as if you work hard for it, you will make use of it for a long time, due to the enhancing system. As opposed to just buying some gear and leveling up to wear whatever 5/5 gear is available for the current level cap, like in other games, especially Japanese MMOs, Korean games bombard you with optimal worthwhile gear and content from the get-go. I guess it's more like WoW if you had to compare it to any non-Korean game.

Group raids at 20, defensive raids and solo raids at 10, world bosses at 20, enhancing and crafting enhancement at 10, dueling from the get-go, PK and PVP when retail launches, target-less systems, complete free-roam, etc. Also, easily obtainable mounts at 20, instant transportation from town to town, region to region and city to city at 10, although minimum levels are required to actually fly from city to city depending on mobs' levels for that region. Can't buy a quick mil and PL yourself to level cap in this game, seeing as how everything is not solely dependent on the AH, which becomes mobile AHs(guilds) in typical MMOs. World bosses limit drops to certain levels; you can't just gank a level 24 WB at 32 and expect drops, or any reward for that matter. All this incorporated with the class specifics, swimming, climbing, jumping, etc. makes for a much more polished game than any other out there IMO. Mind you, it's still in beta.

***Also a new politics system coming out, which is categorized as end-game from HNH/EME. More importantly, there is reason to do the above listed due to how fun(IMO) and rewarding it is.

Too bad there isn't good reason for it running like ass on systems like mine (hint: not weak) and yeah... I still think TERA looks equal to or better than XI speaking technically, and it scales down better for higher performance on weaker systems. That's a win in every sense of the word.

Random grind/quest spots level 30+ and 34+ scenery kinda

Didn't notice the Elite's level as I was taking pic. hit me for 77k when I only have 12k.

Last zone shown is the island part in Castanica. Last effective leveling region for KOBT but mobs/elites run up to level 53, which is well into retail cap.

Moar bad things about the game please. You guys sound way too positive.

I'd rather hear the bad things now, than after I pre-order.

The content Fenux mentioned was mostly in AION too. Why is this any different? You get the number up next to where it says "Lv." by doing the same thing everyone else will do; moving between quest hubs and grinding. Character progression seems so straight forward (Lv38 after less than 1 week?), experienced players will just race to max level like in any other MMO, especially if there is more content there than at mid or low level.

So I have the same question as Alderaan basically, what other fun things are there to do in the game? How is the story intertwined and when do they use cut scenes? Is there a difficult quest line or so that isn't stupid and requires some grouping? Or some fun PvE/PvP events or arena that keeps you busy, with a point system or coins for gear. Anything really that's fun and rewarding for players and keeps them away from "just leveling up" for more than a few days...

IDK, try and think of an MMO where your goal isn't to get to end-game as quickly as possible. Why would that ever change? If everyone thinks like that, we would have all quit a few years into L2 or EQ1. I play a lot, yeah, but IDK if that means experienced. I'm close, but not quite 38 yet. The people who hit 38 in under a week are CBT testers that know what to do because they've played the game a few times over before. Kinda like how you can go from 1-90 in about 90 hrs in FFXI. I would say this is a 60:40 or 65:35 quest:grind ratio on quickest way to 38.

Story wise, you pretty much get a feel as to who the 'bad guy' is in TERA as you get closer to 30 due to CSs and raids. CSs are often throughout epic quests(red ones) which are basically every level, maybe around 40+ epics throughout the beta. It's not so much like FFXIV where you have to reach a certain level and all of a sudden, you have access to a CS, this is pretty much as you progress in levels. Can't say much more on that since I don't read Korean really.

As far as grouping goes, I'm 100% sure you can solo your way to 38. It'll just be slow. You can't do the main story line raids solo unless you're quite a few levels higher than it and the right job.

As for PVP and events, sure. There's CTF, battlegrounds, forts, duels, 5v5s, 10v10s etc., server invasions, and whatever Politics might have to do with PVP.

The game is in beta, it's been at most the same level cap for all 5 testings so far and if you know how Korean games go as far as EXP curves, you know 38-50 is going to be like going from 1-38 a few times at the very least. EME said the had content ready for 8 months after retail release which I think includes a level cap.

Bad things about the game is more of a personal pref. depending on what you like in a game. If slow paced, old school force lock targeting is your thing(not that there's anything wrong with that), this might not be your cup of tea.

Many videos and streams online, along with plenty of pics. I'll answer whatever you want me to, to prove I'm not over-hyping the game. I know no game is perfect, this just happens to be literally my fav MMO I've ever played.
