    [New Instance Dungeons Open]

    - New lvl 50 dungeons are opening; the Golden Labyrinth and the Refuge of Akasha.
    - These dungeons have a high degree of difficulty.
    It will take high level items and good teamwork to clear them.
    But great difficulty means great rewards!


    The Golden Labyrinth

    - This level 50 instance is located in the Lair of Cannibals / 식인종의 소굴.
    - Characters level 48-50 can enter.
    - The instance requires a high level of equipment and teamwork. Be careful!
    - The Golden Labyrinth has a 6 hour cooldown.


    The Refuge of Akasha

    - Located in The Extremely Hot Mountains / 폭염의 산맥, the Refuge of Akasha is at a higher level than the Golden Labyrinth.
    It is the most difficult dungeon so far.
    - Characters level 48-50 can enter, but it is recommended to gather equipment and refine your teamwork in the Golden Labyrinth first.
    - While inside Akasha’s Refuge, each hit has a 70% chance to inflict a debuff called “Devouring Plague / 파멸의 역병”.
    A “Holy Protection Potion / 신성한 보호의 물약” dropped by monsters in the Gold Labyrinth is required to cleanse/prevent this debuff.
    You’ll need these potions before you should set your sights on the Refuge of Akasha.
    - The Refuge of Akasha has a 12 hour cooldown..
    (Instances with an incorrectly listed cooldown of 6 hours have been fixed.)


    [Class Balance]

    Warrior

    - Shadow Clone
    Cooldown is now 50 sec, down from 3 minutes.
    Added a 200 MP cost to the skill.
    HP consumed by the skill is reduced by 20%.
    The shadow clone now has 7.5 times the warrior's HP.
    The defense of the shadow clone is increased.

    - Courageous Blow
    Added the effect of decreasing the target's defense by 4.5% (This does not stack with the Lancer's armor break).
    The skill generates increased aggro.

    - Dual Sword Dance and Strong Flurry
    You take reduced damage while using the skills.

    - Glyphs
    Blustering strike.
    Causes blustering strike to restore .5% of your maximum HP per hit. Available at lvl 25 and costs 5 points.


    Racial skill adjustments

    - Human, Castanic, High Elf, Aman and Baraka Priest skill “Wind of Healing / 치유의 바람” has had its power increased. This skill is now equal in power for all races.


    [PvE]

    1. Some monsters have had their stats modified.
    - Keepers of the Sanctuary / 성역의 파수꾼 in the Valley of Life / 생명의 계곡 have received improved AI.
    - Monsters in the Valley of Life have had their HP slightly increased.
    (The Savage Valley / 야만의 계곡 was incorrectly listed as being in the Plateau of Tyrants / 폭국의 고원 and was fixed.)
    - Monster spawn points in certain areas have been adjusted (the Extremely Hot Mountains / 폭염의 산맥, the Plateau of Tyrants / 폭국의 고원, Isolated Areas / 격리 구역).

    2. Instance Dungeon changes
    - All named monsters appearing in instances automatically recover HP in small amounts.
    - Barricades in the Haunted Institute / 사령술 역구소 will be removed.
    - Red Sword Rishi Warriors / 아카칼리쉬 전사 in the Den of Heretics / 사교도 은신처 will now initiate battle (become aggressive).

    3. Some repeatable quest token rewards are adjusted. (New items/content are added.)
    - The quest “Subdue the Contaminated Areas / 오염지역 토벌 작전” in the Contaminated Forest / 오염된 솦 will now also reward you with a brass seal.
    - The quest “Ancient Forest Suppression Order / 태고의 솦 토벌 명령” in the Ancient Forest / 고대의 솦 지약 will now reward 1 brass seal instead of 3.


    [Other]

    - New relaxation buildings have been added to the Shara continent.
    - The emergency escape option will now always succeed.
    (When using the emergency escape, if you are not near a town, you will be transported to Velika or Alemancia.)
    - Fixed a sentence used in the mystic’s character creation screen.
    - The enhancement crystal “Witch’s Gem / 마녀의 보석” now increases maximum MP by 225 instead of 180.

    For all those across the Atlantic in EU, news is the current Frogster CEO is resigning. I am under the impression that most EU gamers that are familar with Frogster don't have many positive things to say about their interaction with them. Perhaps this bodes well for Tera EU.

    Only thing I dont like to read about that instance is a stacking debuff where you need to kill mobs to cleanse it. While I am sure thee dungeon will be difficult on it's own merits... I am not a fan of gimmick's like that

    1) A little about you first--aside from the first player to ever reach max level in TERA who are you and what's your gaming history?

    Hello, my name is Dog. I am 22 years old and have been playing games since I was very young. I'd have to say that my favorite game of all time is Lineage 2. I loved everything about that game. In Starcraft 2, I was in the top 200 for roughly seven weeks before I got tired of the game. It was very stressful to me. Also, in Aion I was the first level 50 cleric in NA / EU. I played many other games but didn't really achieve anything else worth mentioning.


    2) In general, what was the overall leveling experience like? Was it fun or lacking? Too fast, too slow? etc.

    I almost always have fun while leveling in games. I love the race to max level. That kind of competition is very enjoyable to me. Who doesn't like going for days without sleep? I did feel that the leveling to 50 was a bit too quick for my taste. However, I know that a lot of people disagree with me and prefer a much easier grind. If those people have trouble in this game then I'm not sure what to say to them.


    3) How did you choose to level, through monster grinding or questing?

    I always try to find what's most efficient. My basic motto is that if you have to take more than a minute figuring out a quest, then just skip it. It's not efficient to waste time running around all over trying to figure out one quest when you could have just killed a few mobs for the same experience. I did not do many party quests because there weren't many people around my level to group with. I think they could be good, but I personally prefer solo. I really like the way repeatable quests work in TERA. It is nice to not have to go back to the NPC every time you finish one cycle.


    4) Comparing quest EXP to monster kill EXP, what were the differences?

    I can't really recall exact numbers, but I usually just skip quests that give low amounts of experience relative to the mob experience. For example, if a quest gives 25k and I'm killing mobs that give 10k per kill, then that quest is fairly useless unless I am grinding those mobs to begin with. It's hard to say that all quests are bad, because they are not. Some are worthwhile and others are a waste of time. I found a lot of the party campaign quests to be a huge waste of time. I almost always regretted doing those quests when I could have been solo leveling much faster. The solo campaign quests are amazing.


    5) How did you feel about the storyline? Was it interesting?

    I didn't follow much of the storyline to be honest. I don't usually pay attention to those things in games. I don't have time to watch cinematics . I did watch one of Akasha where she launched crazy, long range fireballs of death. Our priest, een, tried to kill her but the great Akasha was too much for our little friend.


    6) What did you enjoy the most about leveling?

    That's a tough question, haha. It might sound weird, but I really just enjoyed the leveling itself. I have fun when I put my mind to a task and stay extremely dedicated to it. I can usually do 42 hours or so at the beginning before I have to sleep for a few hours or before my guild forces me to sleep . I'm not really sure how that could be fun to anyone -- I guess I am bit crazy.


    7) Did you encounter any PvP on your way to level 50? If so, how was the balance?

    When the level cap was still 38, I did do a few 5v5 matches in battlegrounds. I really enjoyed that. Being a Berserker, I was getting very annoyed fighting 1v1 against people. Most people would just run from me and there wasn't much I could do. When fighting in the 5v5 it was so much better. With my teammates disabling someone, I could really do some massive damage. I think my favorite thing is when one of their healers is slept and I can charge up my strongest skill and one shot them with a crit. The 5v5's are great! I did a 10v10 once and didn't find it to be as entertaining. We weren't very organized because it was a random group. On the grind to 50, I only pked someone once, because I hardly ever saw a single person while leveling. I killed this archer from the guild GN and for the next hour he tried to stalk me around and pk me. He was not very good. I think he still hates me.


    8 ) Did you complete any dungeons on the way to 50? If so, how was the overall experience?

    I did all of the dungeons at least once. They are pretty entertaining, but I have to say that I am a little worried about how easy they are. I am really hoping that the level 50 instances they have planned are much harder. I feel that almost all of these bosses so far can be done without even having a full group, as long as people know what they're doing.

    *UPDATE* The new bosses are ******* hard! like really. and require much more skill than we thought. We were able to kill one of the four in the first new dungeon.


    9) Have you experienced any endgame? If so, how has it been?

    I can't say that I have experienced much of it. Currently, I am eagerly waiting to do more 5v5 battlegrounds along with the 50 instances. They plan on releasing the 50 instance very soon so I guess I'll have to get back to you then. Our guild did an outdoor level 52 boss not long ago. It was nice that it seemed to be a bit more challenging than usual, but it was still doable on the first attempt. I really hope they make the PvE more difficult. I am also very curious about the political system. I don't know much about it and haven't looked into it.


    10) Will you continue to play TERA?

    Yes, I plan on playing TERA for a while. As of right now, I am mainly helping my guild members level up to 50.


    11) Is there anything else you'd like to add?

    I really want to take the time to thank 오감 (Ogam) who helped me get to 50 more than most people realize. He does not get enough credit. I was usually a bit ahead of him in experience, but he was always ahead in quests; therefore he would have to find the new areas to level and tell me about them so I never had to do any searching. It was extremely convenient for me. If it had not been for him I would not have been the first 50. I'd also like to thank Krycera for showing all of us how good fake death really is. I'm also going to thank Naruto because I think he needs more attention.

    ^ Thats a cute interview, but the guy obviously wants to be first, hence he 'rushes' to be so. I am not suggesting this isnt a valid gameplan for taking on what you like, but I don't invest in opinion too heavily.

    I read it as a weed out for those shouldn't there ie cant kill fast enough or aren't on the ball. Also makes it a bit more hectic rather mindlessly farming.

    Big question is if it follows the other korean mmo droprate. L2 and Aion I didn't mind the exp grind at all, but I'm done with the dungeon running just to never see anything.

    Right, me neither. I just wanted to share the interview. : )

    I wouldn't be able to do 42hr grind sessions, no. Out of the 14 days of KCBT, I played 11 days, for 16 hrs, 8hrs or so dedicated to grinding and that was heavy for me. I never skipped any CSs either and plan on raiding til I cap out on current top tier gear or anything similar. We know people rush to level cap, so getting there first when it hits the states isn't my priority.

    I just thought the interview was cute kekeke. : )

In those videos, you can see the results of feedback from our Focus Group Tests in the game client—from Achievements to controller support to a myriad of game mechanics adjustments. We continue to focus on delivering an incredible game for our audience.

    Next month, we're going to host our first game event this year—a Community Play Event to show how TERA has evolved and where it is now. We have brought back everyone who participated in previous tests, and also invited those who have provided thoughtful and constructive feedback within our community (and our contest winners from previous months!)

    This event will be an introduction to where we are now, so the community can track our progress in the next few months. Participants will not be under an NDA and can freely share their experiences with everyone. More importantly, this group will help us test another very important aspect of TERA: our game servers.

    En Masse hit a huge milestone in January by launching and configuring, for the first time, our final remote game server hardware. Until now, we've used in-house, temporary hardware for our servers. Not anymore! This is the final hardware you'll log into when you join the game. The Community Play Event will help us test this configuration and make adjustments. As you might imagine, bringing a game like TERA to life in North America is no mean feat, and getting our servers right is extremely important.

    A couple of months later, we'll host a second event—this one open to a far larger group. This event will help us further refine our server architecture and plan for contingencies. This will also be the first test of our other huge project, the account management and support systems for TERA. More importantly, it will put the game client in the hands of many more people, so they can see the continued progress we've made.

    And after that? It's beta time! The beta cycle will be a multi-part odyssey through TERA where players will be able to see the game in its various phases before we launch in North America.

    We've got a lot of work to do (and you guys have a lot of playing to do!) so here's to a great 2011. Now, we better get back to our desks!

    I'll probably get passed over on getting into the preview event like I did previous FGTs knowing my luck. If anyone at all gets in and wants to share the love, I'd really appreciate the opportunity to check it out. I tried to post constructive well thought out posts on their forums for months in the past, but it's super difficult to stay active in a community that insists L2 was the best MMO the genre has ever seen and everybody who says otherwise are carebears and bads. Just a bunch of rabid fanboys on the official forums for the most part.

    L2 wasn't a bad game, it did a lot of great things, but people expect TERA to be just like it because a lot of the developers were from the Lineage team. Any suggestion that even remotely resembles another MMO and there's a bandwagon of idiots that will spew nonsense for pages. In reality though, it's probably no different than any other official MMO forum, it's just hard to stomach.

    L2 is in a close to tie with FFXI as being my favorite MMO of all time. L2 was amazing.

    Lots of people in this forum probably going to say XI was their favorite MMO. I remember people comparing XIV to TERA and trying to bring up posts as to why XIV was so superior to TERA simply because of the forum we're in. Just sign up for testing and fuck the fanboys. The game is actually pretty amazing, and it doesn't hurt to play it for free if you got the chance.
