That's the argument, yeah. Coming from 7 years of XI, I'm fine with a Galka WHM and Taru MNK. There is no attribute difference between races in this game, there is only racial traits, where if you think about it, they're all useful in their own way and the amount of times you actually use them, they're not overwhelming in comparison to other traits.
Also, you can level 8 characters per account, and there are 8 classes, so! Yeah!
No, not at all. That's 1680 x 1050 on 5/6 textures, 1/2 smooth. Video card set to 0 AA. The game actually look spectacular with mediocre PCs.
My specs are
Q6600 @2.8GHz CPU
8GB 1066 DDR2 Memory
9800 GTX SC @740 Core
My brother has an
i7 920 @3.0GHz
4GB DR 1333
GTS 450 SC @ 890 Core.
We both run default and the only difference is he has it at force AAx2.
Needless to say that with just his specs, he's running 55-65 FPS with 35-40 FPS under load.
I'm running anywhere from 45-50 FPS with 20-25 FPS under load.
FPS started dropping by 5-10 over time while it got heavily populated, a few weeks in.
Sorry for late reply and thx all for keeping this an active thread. I personally think the more people that play this when it comes out, the better and this, believe it or not, is one of the more active EN speaking forums covering TERA. : )
Seems some of those races are gimped as hell based on race traits.
Popori/Elin > Baraka (DD) = High Elf (Mage) > All ???
Hm, I'd probably put High Elf higher than Popori/Elin for mages, but I guess it depends on cooldowns on the active skill. Elin definitely get the most well rounded ones though, I'm a sucker for movement speed so I'd probably end up using those after all. Castanics sound kind of disappointing, but I don't really understand what the first active skill is saying (movement speed aside, obviously). Guessing they'll make fairly good warrior tanks with that movement speed boost though.
ya... to be a caster and not a High Elf is a huge disadvantage.
Castatonic would make fun rangers because of the movement speed.. and rangers arent supposed to be getting hit in the first place
Castanics makes the best DPS in the game VS. PVE.
High Elves make the best mages and -excellent- tanks.
Baraka is just amazing for any tanking job and Priest. The fact that you can't go below 20% as Baraka basically means you will pretty much -never- be in the negatives as far as HP/MP goes.
Popelin is mainly to run away from aggro, PVP, etc.
Humans seems to have the best PVP traits obviously.
Amani have the best tank traits.
good looking game
Is there any decent information coming out of GDC yet? Enmasse loves to not release anything other than trailers and screenshots.
Nothing yet. : (
Admin on TF mentioned the Curse staff meeting up with EME on Thursday so if anything there's going to be an interview page on TF Friday-ish
This game looks so sick, please tell me there is a solid PvE endgame...will build a new PC just for this game if so.
The PvE I've played so far (which was middle teens level) was awesome. And this was before BHS added in CSs, polished NPC interaction etc. Fighting monsters with this 'no target' system is super fun, and if you have a few friends to play with, it'll be a blast.
EDIT: any week now EME should be announcing the 'community play event' dates and hopefuly we'll see some of you other interested people getting in to try it out!
No target system? Sorry, a little uneducated about this game aside from the races.
^Unlilke FFXI, WoW or Rift, you don't target enemies with a tab or mouse click. Ranged classes use a cross hair, sorta like a 3rd person shooter. Melee have cross hairs too but its more like Diablo when it comes to fighting; you have to face your opponent and attack. They can dodge, block etc.
By the time we get it, we should have with a lv.60 cap, as opposed to a lv.50 cap. As far as I know, Akasha's Refuge can't be cleared by anyone group outside of 2(?) guilds out there, both of which are Korean. Golden Labyrinth is still pretty hard and no NA has downed the 4th boss I believe. Those are the 2 hardest dungeons as far as lv.50 goes. There's that and World Bosses which roam certain areas and drop gear, and your typical grind/questing is absolutely -perfect-. By perfect I mean 100% fluid and not boring at all. Once you play the game a few times, you feel you've been playing it for years. It's like picking up a PS3 controller and playing God of War for a few hrs. It just feels natural.
No information at all in regards to any sort of PVE content affecting the politics system or anything on lv-50-60 content yet though.
From the community manager of the EME page:
Elin are here to stay, h0mie.On a last note: I'm happy to dispel your Elin rumor. The Elin will still be in the Western version of TERA, and their lack of inclusion on our website is a result of us finalizing their appearance in our version and holding off until it is final.
