    PC case fan speed

Alright so here's the story. My case is an Apevia X-Navigator that came with a fan controller. You could adjust the speed of the fans and its setting would dim/light up the LEDs depending on its power.

Recently I noticed my girlfriend vacuuming the outside of my tower, and she put the vacuum flush against the side fan while it was running and you could hear the fan slow down when she did it. No big deal, she was trying to get some dust buildup, but I'm a total headcase when it comes to my electronics. Since I saw her do that, I think the tower fans sound louder.

Now the kicker: the fan controller isnt dim/lighting the LEDs anymore. I haven't touched it in forever, probably years, so I don't know if this is new or not. But the bottom line is I seemingly can't adjust the fans. Being the headcase that I am, I immediately trace this back to the vacuum incident and feel that the fans are for some reason running full-blast with no way for me to turn them down.

I downloaded Speedfan, cant notice any way to control them. It only shows my heatsink, and four other options(I have 5 case fans) with 0 RPM. Is there anything I can do here outside of replacing hardware that might not even be broken to begin with? There's a good chance this is all in my head, and I just want to check on the situation.

Did the vacuum manage to pull out a cable? I'm not familiar with how that case is wired, but it might be something to check.

Maybe the vaccum moved the blade of the fan slightly, causing it to spin at a different angle (and thus louder than normal)? You could try to open your case and reposition the blade. Just a thought.

Don't think so, but I reconnected everything just to be sure. Ive isolated the loudness from the fan (big important one on the side) that had the vacuum pressed up against it. Still can't get controller to work.
