Last pre-update added folders 225 through 238 int he ROM0 folder.
The Red Grimoire Book is ROM0/230/105.DAT
I don't think Synergy can be a player-performed type of synthesis. The Evoliths are EX, and etching a slot onto any piece of equipment also renders it EX. Most likely, the "Synergy Furnace" will just be an NPC (it's shown next to the Synergy Engineer), and you can trade one of 3 combinations to the furnace:
- a valid piece of equipment + "a dedicated item" for etching a slot onto the item.
- a slotted item + an Evolith you want to attach to it
- a slotted item + "a dedicated item" for removing slots/Evolith from the item.
the book is a new dat, but its really just the FoV book in a red cover now
edit: the SCH crimson grimoire is a lot more.. active..
Firstly: Socket systems have been in LOTS of RPGs, not just Diablo II etc, its not a straight rip-off in the same way using 'Goblins' or 'Golems' aren't straight ripp-offs of X rpg sytem/lore etc, people like familiar names/systems. I have no problem with SE implementing elements of tried and tested systems.
FOV is not redundant, chances are there will always be the possibility of getting a PWN aug off FOV that you cant get any other way - obviously the potential with such a reward is countered by the regular 'meh' augs or the lol ones. Somone mentioned already, FOV MAY give you a +6INT Weskit, whereas this will probably get you a +3INT without the risk.
The Evolith system is probably not meant to be game breaking, I doubt Hatse+X%, Refresh etc will make it in, but surely its no bad thing to be able to +0.5 upgrade all your non rarex gear? And some of the options may even be kinda cool...
As for the new gears, hard to say if they are part of this or whether the slots on the gear have anything to do with it - my hunch is that they are the final WOTG rewards, or at least from that storyline, not the Evolith system.
Basically, dont bash SE yet, not with so little info^^
I'm just waiting for the... "we forgot to mention, that the synergy is unstable and if failed to insert correctly that it blows up your item" that or the oven just magically eats your item and spits out synthesis materials.
This is just like gems in WoW only with crappy stats that you don't want.
It has the potential to be good but odds are any of these socketed weapons will be weaker then what we currently have. So it will end up being a waste.
Fixed. (Sorry, WoW nor Diablo invented this kind of system)
Also, how can it be weaker than what we currently have..when it will no doubt work for just about every weapon in game? They use the same wording they did for augmenting, which means unless it sockets base damage or stats down..it can't render pre-existing weapons weaker.
Look at Fey Weapons, they aren't the best, but for some jobs they're actually a decent weapon for those who can't get uber weapon+10.
I wonder if SE is just using this a balance test to see if they should put it in FFXIV from the get go.
I'm a big fan of the Augment system and FoV, it will be interesting to see how easy this is to do solo or with a small group of friends.
My biggest concern with the augment system is that we don't care about customization as much as we care about the end results being better or not than the other alternative. If these systems were added to existing "top tier" equipments, it would be epic and would create a whole new dynamics. The way it's done right now mean we will be stuck with a few useful items, and it's not really different than having them handed directly to you after a fight.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing to have a new gears possibility (and reviving crafting), but something like this should be usable on everything, not just a few items.
Also, fuck macro gears. I already have an average of 4 pieces in every slots, and customizable equipments just make it worse. Getting new pieces of gears isn't even fun anymore, it's just a macro hell.
The point is that it'd make some mobs more dynamic. You know, shit like lolCerberus dropping something like "Stoneskin effect+ X" or "Fire Potency+ X" evoliths along with its current lootpool. This way, you have a side prize to look forward to along with the static drops. Didn't get that drop from Mee Deggi yet again? Here is some random MNK-themed evolith stone, better luck next time.
Such a system would make every NM and HNM in the game just a bit more dynamic if you never know for sure if you'll get something that may be useful to someone. It simply adds a level of consolation prize, something XI lacks on numerous levels.
People will always camp shit in XI so adding some of these evolith stones to old HNMs would give people a small incentive to go back and try those mobs if they want some evoliths to upgrade current gear.
If SE wants to go down the road of FoV-type mobs, at least make them a bit more challenging than run up and 3shot a mob. Grouping would be nice again, along with using the very underused shadowreign/cop zones.
Never ceases to amaze me that, rather than adding these sorts of drops to existing mobs and thus making fairly useless NMs (e.g. Jorm, Vrtra, Hydra, all the "lesser" HNMs that time forgot such as Lumber Jack, Cemetery Cherry, Xicu, Bakgodek, Ash Dragon, Amikiri, virtually all ToAU beastmen stronghold NMs, etc., etc., etc.) into something worth taking the time to go and kill, they implement some "new" system like this which, frankly, sounds dull as dishwater. What on Earth is the point of implementing a load of boring new regime NMs when there's an absolutely vast number of completely ignored yet potentially challenging NMs wandering around the world already?
Oh well, at least it can't be worse than the FoV augments system.
Well funded development. Absolutely can't wait.
Japanese is similarly ambiguous to English:
So it's basically the same thing. Could be that it can fail, or it could just be there because you need to match the rocks up with the slots and it won't do anything otherwise.Upon successfully attaching evolith, equipment will be granted new abilities which will change the help message as follows.
Does the BG forum system still fuck up if Japanese is posted? I left the original line out just in case.
How is this supposed to be any different from the augment system we already have? So we get some different kinds of stats not already in the game, but the end effect is basically what we already have. It just seems very weird to have different systems for the same thing.
