it's so hard to do top 3 because each game is so different, but best ever i'm going with chan, scotty nguyen, and either negraneau or erick lindgren. if you've ever seen them play in HORSE games it's insane

i didn't realize that the distinctions between levels of play, areas of expertise, types of formats, etc. were so difficult to comprehend. i think what a lot of people don't realize (unfortunately) is that there are other games outside of no limit holdem.

phil hellmuth is good at weak, large live NL tournaments. that's it. some people in this thread are indeed criticizing him because of his behavior, but that aside, there's a lot of truth in the things being said about his level of poker skill.

there's nothing monstrous about him. in fact when he shows up for big cash games, the "big game" regs LOVE him because he's a monstrous FISH in those games. and i guarantee if you went over to the 2+2 forums and dropped that line in the hsnl forum or high stakes mtt forum you'd be laughed right off.

if you think he's good, fine. but he's not nearly as good as you say he is, and to go so far as to give yourself credibility based on your success as a player is almost as ridiculous as your top 3 player of all time statement. i made 5 figures my first month of live play. but that means absolutely nothing when it comes to knowledge of actual events and who is good. actually following the news and tidbits of live and online poker the past 15 years is what i go off of, not some ludicrous idea that hurr-durr i made money durr-durr i know better than you.

anyway, some of your mind-boggling statements aside, in the current level of modern competition, he's simply not at the elite levels his "peers" are. that's a god damned fact.

I only said I hurr-durr made money hurr-hurr because I wanted to show I'm not some one who only watches the main event on TV like most people who like to comment about poker.

All comments were directed towards THNL; 5 figures as in 12,000 or 90,000...big difference and I HOPE you mean at least 40k+ by the way you are trying to talk.

ESPN actually has a Pick Em on the final table, kind of entertaining. I made some half-ass picks, and created a group, if people are interested.

ESPN - Poker Pick 'Em - Game Home

    Group Name: Bluegartr
    Password: Youmad

There's a surprise about 9 people, 7 of which are strangers playing poker? Are you really that guy?

I'm not the only one in the world who doesn't care for spoilers.

I think you are in this particular instance, we're not talking about spoiling a movie or even the winner, we're talking about people participating in poker and something that was pretty fucking public everywhere.

Nope, I agree with him. I avoided most news sources that would have spoiled this because it made watching the broadcasts much more entertaining.

idk I have to agree its not really spoilers. anyone who is actually interested / really into poker would have already known who was where a long time ago. Idk about anyone else but I followed most of the wsop events on the world series of poker website that updates all the time. I guess that might just be because I am a poker player myself but I love to know who is doing well in what tourneys as it is happening. Anyway you can probably check out updates tomorrow as the hands happen at wsop.com . I know I will be hovering over that site after I get home from some live action tomorrow. Probably won't be back until the final table is an hour or two in, hope I don't miss too much action Unfortunately I have to be playing tomorrow or else I'd just sit at my computer watching updates lol

I made the thread on the day after ESPN aired the last day of action in July, which set the final 9 players. Are you really that dense?

You want another example? How many people here are going to actually hunt down the final table results online today, and how many are gonna watch it on Tuesday? Personally I'm gonna wait.
