Sure, people might no longer openly support forcing black people to drink at different water fountains. But if they are "publicly" in favor of civil rights but still uncomfortable with their daughter dating a black guy, that's still racism. And it has ripple effects throughout society. The presidents of universities are no longer barring black students from going to college, but they're also not hiring black men to coach their football teams (which are made up mostly of black players).

The point I was trying to make about gay marriage is that I think it will be similar to our current outlook on race. In a few decades, the vociferous opponents of same sex marriage will be likened to the Southern politicians ordering fire hoses turned on civil rights activists in the Sixties. Gay marriage will be legal in all 50 states, and will be commonplace. But just because future dad isn't vocally opposed to gay marriage, it doesn't mean he's going to be thrilled to find out his son wants to marry a dude.

So I get what you're saying, but given racism's death grip on the ignorant, I can't foresee a situation where gay marriage becomes a non-issue.

    Plus this x1000.

Have you read the comments sections of a major newspaper website when race is even remotely involved? They're the fucking Klan rallies of the 21st century.

Its just going to keep gradually sliding to the right, until the apocalypse of course. As to open racism, I wouldn't call myself racist but I'm pretty judgmental of a person's appearance, i.e. whether or not they're wearing fubu.

OP has a Twilight avatar, which I assume means he likes Twilight, which is something I would count against him even more than being a birther

Younger people on average tend to be more supportive of gay marriage than older people. Shocker. News at 11.

I thought the Twilight thing was just irony. That's the gayest thing in this thread, and Atre posted earlier.

But theres so much more detail that can be discerned from the graph outside of the most glaringly obvious thing. Its also cool to see the hard numbers that prove that is true displayed so beautifully too is it not?

Sorry gays, better luck next time they give it to you temporarily and then strip it away. Perhaps it's time you all just moved to Europe where you can marry as many penises as you want.

If we let gays start marrying then the trolls will want to marry too.

if it would keep the trolls from breeding, I might honestly support the anti-gay marriage movement. it would be a hard choice, that's for sure.

oh who the fuck am I kidding, they'll breed in wedlock, out of wedlock, under a bridge, it doesn't matter.

Question, did the DNC and the Obama administration do anything at all to help against the stripping of gay marriage rights in Maine? Like, did they at least send emails to registered voters in Maine to urge them to vote against it?

It's not a religious ceremony if it isn't done by the Church. They don't want churches to marry them, they want to be able to get married and be recognized by the government.
