FFXI problem on Xbox

FFXI worked fine until my xbox crapped out and i had to get a new one. The new one came with a hard drive so i had just planned on using the old one for FFXI only. Well when i try to play it now with said hard drive i get a message telling me a need to re-download the game. Just wondered if anyone else had this problem and will re-installing FF fix it? Don't really fancy sitting through a 4+ hour install for no reason.

If its relevant the old hard drive (with FF installed) is an original xbox one and worked on an original console. New xbox is an Elite.

Yeah you just have to reinstall it. I've sent mine off twice and have had to reinstall it both times. It has something to do with what they do when fixing it that messes up FFXI.

Figured I post it in this thread. My other xbox stopped reading FFXI discs all together. It reads everything else just not FFXI no idea why. Microsoft was equally as confused(go figure) so I had to send it in again lol

That would have to be it. It's weird though because this just started happening to the XBOX and it was posted the day after I called both SE and XBOX hmmm lol. I have always shut down my 360 like that and nothing would happen. I wonder what's the problem with it now?

Ok i'm gonna give it a shot at the weekend. Still find it weird though, you'd think with it being a new xbox there'd be no problems but then again Microsoft...

Yeah I don't understand why you have to reinstall after shipping it off to be repaired, but so far I'm 2/2 on having to :/

No i've not had it repaired, got tired of them breaking (no3) so thought fuck it just buy an Elite seeing as they are supposed to be better. Was gonna use the old hard drive just for FF that's if it would work.
