    To Atrei: Swimming, Running (as stated), and High Intensity Interval Training in sets of 15, 2-3 days a week.

    ----For breakfast, I eat frosted flakes or whatever cereal brand (Corn Flakes, throwing it out there) is in the house and eat fruit such as apples,oranges,bananas, etc.

    For lunch, cup of noodles,rice, veggies, chicken, beef (not in all one setting. Once more whatever is in the house)

    For dinner, usually whatever my parents cook (tacos,burritos,nachos, fajitas, chili, pork wellington, roast, steak, anything that's in the house that can be cooked)

    Very rarely, do I eat fast food. I tend to drink soda at least 3-4 times a week and I drinking plenty of water (12 8oz glasses a day).

    HAve to go so making it quick, plus I'm sure others will pitch in anyway.

    I can see how you could possibly be eating more than you burn, given the dinner. What you listed for dinner could easily be tons of calories. And for cereal, you should probably measure how much you're actually eating because 1 serving =\= a full bowl of cereal.

    It's the little things that you may not notice before...

    Anyone have trouble eating right after they wake up? Maybe it's because I'm nervous about being late for work or something but I couldn't stomach half of a banana yesterday morning.

    I've never been a big morning eater, which is part of the reason I HATE things like plain oatmeal or egg whites. You get tired of breakfast after only a few days and then you're choking down stuff that you were already having trouble getting down to begin with.

    The best way I've found to deal with this is to make a breakfast shake. Whey, peanut butter, milk, banana, it's the only way I can get that many calories so early.

    Not so much...but I go to the gym on an empty stomach in the morning, and eat right after I'm done (usually protein shake and oatmeal w/ peanut butter in it)

    It could be part of the fact that your digestive/GI tract is the last part of your body to become fully awake. It might just take you a bit longer than most for your hunger to set in.

    It seems the only thing I can eat is cereal (and not much of it) or a protein shake.

    I just don't feel like washing my shaker cup, to pack it in my bag. I'm lazy.

    I wake up in the middle of the night sometimes and I can't go back to sleep until I eat something! PB+jelly <3 or a small bowl of honey nut cherios. I should probably try to stick to less carbs more protein like a glass of milk or a casien shake. This would probably help my hunger a bit. This has only been lately. I use to never eat until noon everyday.

    Like Rich was saying... The thought of losing muscle or not getting the gains I'm busting my ass for motivates me to eat.


    On the subject of steroids and hgh a few weeks ago. I was working out yesterday and there is a this doctor that works out there. He was telling me that I should know most of the bigger, stronger guys there have some type of boosters they are taking. He said that he could get it and then said "Let me be clear, I'm not talking about steriods, I could lose my licenses from that" He said it was a herbal or hormone booster or something then went on about getting more oxygen to the muscles etc. I'm not planning on taking anything but I am curious to find out what he's talking about and if it really is that easy to get.

    Probably HGH, and he can lose his license if he's prescribing it for non-medical reasons.

    HGH by itself is pretty useless, he was talking out of his ass. if it's not test then it's probably a pro-hormone which is illegal in america i think.

    considering I still have about 10 lbs of fat to lose it's not that bad. I could see that point of view if I was at the bf% I wanted, but I still have some work to do. Don't want to use muscle as your energy source, but my body fat reserves are still high enough that it shouldn't be an issue, right?

    edit: I've never read or heard anything that says you HAVE to eat before you work out early in the morning (I'm up at 430am, teaching a class at 515am) as long as you supply your muscles with protein afterwords. Normally I do have something like a fast twitch to help power through.

    edit2: I'm also not bulking or bodybuilding, I'm trying to lean out.

    I am the same way. I have never been able to eat a good meal before class in the morning, I used to just grab a nutri grain bar and nibble on it on my way to class. Not sure what I'm going to do this semester, but I think I can stomach a 8oz milk whey shake since those are pretty light.

    if you're trying to lose fat and JUST doing cardio, than its not too bad. its actually effective doing it that method if you're doing HIIT. but you said working out. working out in general means "all of the above" to people like me, so i was assuming you lifted weights. and if thatsthe case, thats a HUGE no-no. eat the shake atreides posted, about 1 before you head out if you want to go to sleep 1 hour earlier lol. or... you can always get those hydro whey, but eh. the price tag isnt really worth it. either way, not eating will have you losing more muscle than fat if you do it that method. you have no fuel. no glycogen to replenish your body with the extra pumps needed to get through the sets and instead of using your fats/carbs for energy (the good ones).

    at the bare minimum you need to have some carbs in your system, or your body will eat muscle for energy. you can tax your body after 6hrs+ of not feeding it, that is no bueno my friend.

    the only time any sort of empty stomach activity works is with low intensity cardio(120 or less bpm), and if you're trying to cut 10lbs, might as well just walk in the mornings

    Right on, thanks rich. I'll try doing this and see if it works. Yes, I'm lifting weights, but more for endurance and tone than for strength and bulk. I do cardio in the evenings on my off days.

    One of those shakes would be like a brick in my stomach that early...I'll probably try to find an alternative fuel for that early in the morning.
