@Atreides - Thanks for the feedback. And...Really, I can post in startingstrength? I don't know...I'm so scared posting somewhere where I don't know the people. They may rip me a new one, make me cry and never want to squat again.

I'm 5'2" and haven't tried toes pointing outward? What would that do? Is that even proper?!

edit: looked around online-- and found the answers to my questions... I see. I will try toes pointed out next week. Thanks.

edit2: I grew some balls and registered to starting strength forums. Whenever my account's been activated, I'll post my videos there for more feedback. Thanks Atreides for giving me a heads up. Didn't know I could post there =o

Doing pretty well with my diet and working on the 6 pack, figured I would post some before and after.
As you can see the before I have a little more stomach and love handles, been working on losing those. I have lost 0 lbs, and it hasn't effected me in anyway with what I do physically at the gym, I actually do more now. The before pick I was flexing with a serious struggle, whereas the after is just me standing there.

    Before

    After

I hate you Omni! Sucks I've been trying to bulk the last few months. I would to get rid of my love handles but I'm going to keep trying to gain muscle mass until close to next summer.

Here's the pull up vid I promised Rich! (and I think Zoo) I started out about 3 months ago only being able to do 3-4. I know I was cheating a bit but I never maxed out on pullups. To be honest I quit because I was out breath. I don't do any cardio because I was still losing weight. Going to aim for 20 pull ups-swap-20 chin ups at some point. I've been doing pull ups with 25lb x10 35lb x8 45lb x 6-8.

Meat! How do you embed those videos?

real talk fuck the pullups(overhand) and just go with the weighted chinups(underhand).what fails 1st when doing back is your biceps not your back, so you want to put your biceps in a stronger position so you can pull more weights.

Question about pull-ups/chin-ups: Proper way is to have your arms fully extend at the base of the movement? Also, it's weird...I can't do as many pull ups & chin ups in the gym than at home with my Iron Gym or at a park/playground. COuld it be that my gloves are what's somehow impeding me?

i stop when the tension if off my back, not quite fully extended.

is one angled at the end? are the bars at the playground\park thinner than the gym, is it your grip that's failing?

at the gym, I switch between chin-ups and neutral grip pull-ups every time I do that workout set. When I do chin-ups, it's on the long horizontal bar on the big machine with all the pulleys. For neutral grip pull-ups, there are parallel bars sticking out that have angled ends, but I don't grip there, I grip closer to the base where it's actually parallel and flat, not angled.

The bars at the park aren't much thinner/thicker than the ones at the gym...though maybe a tad thinner?

I'm not sure if it's my grip that's failing? Maybe i'm just weaker in the mornings? :\

I have a much easier time with shoulder width grip than I do with my hands really close together, maybe that's it?

Hmm. Maybe I will just have to mess with my grip width to see which may be better?

Also, after reading the starting strength forums, I think I've been doing deadlifts wrong.

Real men dangle 60 lbs from themselves and do 25 full extension pull ups.

The squat looks almost perfect, especially for going slightly past true-parallel. I’d say about 90% of the people I see normally doing them don’t come close to the proper depth.

    Deadlift:
..maybe push the hips forward as leverage a bit more towards the top. (harder to tell from conventional than sumo stance… also harder to tell when someone isn’t at near-failure since the bar speed is faster)

Load the 45s on the side for a standard range of motion. The normal range of motion should make the same weight slightly easier.

Push yourself more if the video is representative of a normal set.

I Re-grip / re-set every rep (1-2 seconds) since the bar tends to drift ever so slightly to my left and my feet tend to want to drift in (on sumo stance) after many reps. If anyone tries to say it is "cheating", I'd point out that if it was really giving an advantage, I'd see my estimated 1-rep max from higher reps dwarfing my tested 1-rep max. (which re-grip/re-setting obviously doesn't apply to) The tested 1-rep was just about right on to the estimated on multiple reps.

@Ryany - thanks for the feedback. Question. I see many videos of people doing "proper" deadlifts starting with parallel legs. Should I start with my butt a bit more up in the air or is that fine? Also, are my shoulders aligned enough??

You say the squat is almost perfect; what can be changed/improved?
