Hmm was doing squats today and after each set, I felt extremely light headed w/ like a heavy feeling on my heart (like if I didn't breathe in a certain way, my chest would hurt a bit).
I don't think it was too much weight, because I was able to get in all 3 sets of 8, so idk what the fuck the issue is. After each set I had to sit down for like 3 mins before I could do anything else (and I usually jump from lower body, do a set on upper body while resting lower body, do a set on lower body while resting upper body, water, repeat.)
Sometimes, it just your body feels tiring, even though you don't feel about it. The other possible reason is, if the squat is your very first workout today, your body need some adjustment to feel that you are about begin to do for some workout.
Another idea, are you breathing right? You can also get those sensations from breathing incorrectly or not breathing during a rep.
So I'm like 2 weeks or so into cutting. My abs are coming in more and more. I don't thinking I'll be able to finish the bottom portion before my next bulk, which starts on December 12th. The only thing odd I have found is I am maintaining my body weight. Clearly I'm losing body fat because of definition. I just started doing legs hard for the first time in yearsssss. Maybe I'm getting newbie gains on my legs that's keeping my body weight up?
Btw next bulk will be from 190-193 to 200-205! I've never weighed that much and be fit. I've almost caught up with my high school vertical. My goal is a dunk a 10' goal again. I can get 2 hands on the rim but I still have 4-5 inches to go.
Squat is actually the last(aside from cool down).
Starts off w/ my 8 mile bike ride (as the gym is 8 miles from my house)
I start the gym day by doing a set of sit ups, dips, then pull ups (extend all the way down, hold for 3 counts then do next), mid weight power clean. x3
Then I do a set of dumbbell bench press, followed by a set of dead lifts. x3
Then I do bench press, followed by squats. repeat x3
Sit ups, dips, pull ups to warm down (same as my warm up, but minus power clean) x1
Then I shower up and go to class (campus directly across the street) and I'm there for a quarter of the day before I bike back home.
I'm breathing, but probably incorrectly. Takes about all the air I have just to get from parallel to start the drive back up, so I'm usually out of breath to breath about half way back up. (This is breathing regularly in idle, taking a big breath in as I go down and pushing a big breath out as I come up)
Goddamn that's a lot of work
Also, what I've read and do is to hold your breath through the entire Rep. Something about keeping abdominal pressure high to support the spine.
lol I would be eating salmon. I went by the only(smallish town) fresh seafood place to get some yesterday and they were out of business! We also have a grocery store that has semi-fresh fish and I went by there and their cooler was busted and they had no fish at all.
I usually do squats first simply because its a compound exercise and its best to be fresh, or as close as you can to being fresh.
If I'm doing legs I usually do:
Squats
leg press
stiff legged deads
calf raises
core
I try to go from squats to leg press as fast as I can and blast my quads hard. I usually do one leg at a time for 5-8, switch to other leg, repeat, and then immediately increase the weight (I usually double it and then add 20lbs) and do 5. I do this 3 to 5 times depending on how hard I hit myself during squats.
I know I'm not explaining this right but I will try anyway.
It is not just holding your breath, it's trying to blow out but keeping your windpipe shut. This cranks up the pressure in your abdomen so that when your abs tighten the force is transfered through your guts to your anterior spine. Somehow this is supposed to keep your spine from popping out the front instead of out the back like in a round-back deadlift. Though it's entirely possible I have nfc what I'm talking about.
Oh, I forgot to mention
Spoiler: show
I'm pretty sure it's my shitty diet, but I've lost 20 lbs doing this x2-3 (w/ some home workouts on the x2 weeks) in the past 2 months, lol not gained
Due to the thanks giving break last week, I had to rest my polymetric workout for the whole week, and continued it again in monday. But because I resume the workout at the week 3 of the phase, which is one of the most intense week, my legs just feel so sore for 2 days now. Hopefully it will becomes better this evening before I will decide whether I had to skip the optional polymetric workout for today or not![]()
So I got a question for anyone that drinks casein protein, specifically the ON brand of casein. It seems that no matter how much I shake/stir/blend it, it still comes out clumpy. Is that normal? I have no problems drinking it; the chocolate peanut butter is quite delicious actually. I just find it... odd, that it doesn't smooth out.
that's the nature of casein, it's grainy/sandy, sorta like how whey is chalky.
I have been drinking 2 servings/day of the ON choco casein for the past week or so and it is so nasty. I have some vanilla coming in the mail tomorrow. I have heard the cookies n cream casein is the best.
The best way I have found to choke it down(note I Didn't say make it taste better) is to use hot water LOL, and I just drink the nasty sludge. Somehow if the water is hot and it's a little thicker it doesn't have as bad an aftertaste. And I much on a pickle after each huge gulp.
Also I'm never going back to that goddamn gym! Fuck that gym in the ass! I am ordering an R-3 rack from rogue this week.
