Guess this would be the place to ask, is the p90x thing that's on TV all the time any good? I'm really bad at remembering what work outs I'm supposed to do on specific days and I really hate going to the gym, so I feel like it (or something similar, if there's a better option) might be useful.
Picked up some Jack3d this weekend, and tried it for the first time this morning. pretty nice pre-workout stuff. don't have much to compare it to other than fast twitch, haven't taken any real workout supplements other than whey protein in a very long time.
Its not so important what you eat, get your fish oil, your multivitamins, and your protein. Filler for calories is fat, if you want to get big, eat your carbs(and your calories), if you want to lose some fat, cut your carbs. Paying attention to your macronutrients will essentially get you eating properly, it's hard to eat junk once you start paying attention to labels because a bag of chips for example will no longer have any value to you.
I don't really know of any good guides of like what to eat and whatnot, as there's so many different opinions on what is "correct". You have all those paleo people who will tell you to never touch an ounce of dairy(which is retarded imo), and then you have people who will tell you to go on the see-food diet(which I also think is retarded). You just need to google around about the different strategies. There's people that advocate a certain macronutrient ratio, some who say it doesn't matter, others are much more scientific and exact about it(lyle mcdonald has a nice website for that route).
How do you guys prepare your tuna?
How long will it keep outside of the can?
Get a container, or a seal bag will be a good solution. But I used to buy the package bag one, instead of the can. I just leave it open inside the fridge, since I will finish it in between 2-3 days anyway.
Is there anything (website, other videos, etc.) that'd outline a better long-term, day-by-day cardio workout? I don't know that I necessarily need a video showing me stuff and I don't think I have (or want to buy) all of the stuff that you need for P90x, so I'm definitely open to suggestions.
I've been using it for about 2-3 months now after having tried other NO products. I'd say it's pretty solid stuff, I've noticed considerable toning results already. It's unfortunate, I'm so accustomed to pre-work supplements, I don't get the "holy fuck I need to go destroy weights RIGHT NOW" feeling anymore. I think most of that part is in your head anyhow. Does work great for breaking plateaus though.
I've been using jack3d for a couple months as well, and it does absolutely nothing for me. My friend, on the other hand, swears by it. /shrug.
eh, I can definitely feel the difference in my energy and pump feeling compared to when I was drinking fast twitch pre-workout.
I'm sure I'll have a better idea of how it's working for me after a few weeks. Looking to put on a couple lbs of muscle and then start to cut again.
random sorry but... i really can't stand planet fitness, but honestly if you're coming to the gym with a gallon jug of water you need to be shot on sight
So I am a big novice when it come to weight lifting other than the basics. So I have a few questions (if you don't want me taking up space can pm answers.) I bought some Jack3d and AMP this weekend as pre/post work out supplements, too much starting out? Also I see people mention cutting and bulking often in the thread what does that entail? Final thing I know you can't build muscle without a proper diet, what would be the best foods to eat as a cheap/poor, college kid living on college food?
On the subject of suplements and drinks and shit: would you guys suggest i start taking them? At the moment i'm not really taking anything aside from multivitamins and fish oil.
If you do suggest i take some, what would you suggest?
That's fine starting out, just take it slow: 1 scoop of the jack3d before workout and gradually work your way higher and the amp is perfectly fine after workout: shoot for taking in in a 30min time frame after your finished. As far as campus food, it sucks but go for eggs n pb&j and milk and fish, no soda. That's basically all my school had that was somewhat good and it worked out ok.
@kuya, its basically what you feel comfortable taking. Do you want a pre-workout or intra, personally I use both but its expensive and doing 1 is perfectly fine. I've tried just about every pre-workout there is and I'm currently using superpump max pre-workout and purple wraath intra, works great. If anything at all though get protein for post-workout, ON whey imo.
if you're a noob, use jack3d on days you dont work the next day. crashes are unbearable. on days that you DO have to work the next day, try taking it in the afternoon, depending on your size and tolerance, you might need 2 scoops, and itll be enough to give you that intensity without the crash.
protien shakes aren't needed it you're only trying to maintain a physique, but it still helps. its a fast absorbing protien, so you can basically drink it whenever you want. the most ideal time to drink is usually when you 1st wake up and post workout. but when you are cutting and on keto diets, you can basically drink it all day as long as you're getting in all the fats/vitamins from other sources.
speaking of vitamins and other sources, the cheapest and most effective bulking foods are healthy chains like pollo tropical, moes and subways with extra meat. ideal foods for college kids are peanut butter, milk, olive oil and lots of eggs. Target also sells chuck 1lb steaks for about 3-4 bucks. i stock up on about 30 of them and have them once a day, cut of bulk.
omega 3 and multivitamins are very nice, but make sure you get it from its natural forms as well. also, take it with meals so it will help digest and spread out more and get more of it, since your body can only absorb so much vitamins at a time.
cut= cutting fat. bulk= putting on mass and some fat to chizzle and cut later lol. i dont know how much more of an explanation is needed
all the other fancy dancy supplements are nice, but not needed. like casein, and creatine in general. you can get fine without it, and its nice to have your body go through cycles of things like creatine anyways. ( make sure you drink lots of water when you DO start jack cycles btw.)
however.. depending on your intensity and motivation and other none 100% legal products you might take, amino acids are one of the biggest blessings you can ever hope for. just make sure its thorough and the real deal. i was in a 4 week cycle of EC mixed in with 2 grams of omega 3s to lower blood pressure and keep my heart and blood ok in general, and the amino acids helped maintain my growth so much, that i would be scared to see how it worked with people who take anabolic steroids. that combination is like peanut butter and jelly, especially since those will make you absorb absolutely EVERYTHING, and allow you to recover in 12 hours when normal ppl would recover in about 24-48 hours lol.
Nvm!
