Get a medicine ball (the big size one), you can do many kinds of workout with this and just a dumbbell. Resistance band is also another good choice, that you dont need to speed whole much of money to buy various equip, to do the workout.

You dont need to care about whether the cardio will conflict with resistance training or not, they can go together. What you should careful is that dont eat too much fruits/nut per day. Especially if you are trying to stuff yourself with fruits, those sugar might bump your body weight back after certain amount of period.

Yeah but he is lifting 85 lbs more than you at the same weight. I would think if you get up to 300 you will gain a decent amount of muscle weight in the process. Anyway, I am probably just focusing too much on height/weight, when everyone can still have a very different build.

    - Cutting phase; lifting weights; keep intensity as if I was bulking, or lower it?

I have never been through a cut and have read and heard mixed opinions on this. I will be in a calorie deficit of around 500. If I lift weights at the same intensity I have been doing while packing on weight, wouldnt muscles suffer from not having cals to recover properly? Wouldnt this be counterproductive when the main goal of doing this is preserving muscle while burning fat? I am lost here, so anything you guys can share about this is welcome.

Oh, another minor doubt. When doing HIIT by running and swimming, high intensity and resting phase main difference is the speed. However, say you do it on a static bicycle or an elliptical trainner, how does resistance factor in? Like, lets say you rest by going at 60% of your posibilities and resistance 10. Now you start the high intensity interval, whats better, to go faster (same resistance or slightly higher and just way faster), to go harder (keeping speed around the same but upping resistance a noticiable bit), or a combination of both? I would like to know which is more effective burning cals wise, not interested on the other possible benefits of one or the other at this time.

    Thanks!

Darlantan - I just cut back on carbs but keep my protein up around 300g's. I try to take most (80%?) of my carbs within 1.5 hours before and 1.5 hours after I work out. The other 20% spread around breakfast and lunch (wheat bread / Oatmeal).

I think your body is just going to struggle to recover as quickly as before. When I was taking in around 4500 cals eating every hour or two my muscle were always ready to go but my ligaments and joints would tell me otherwise ; ;. I also would get some huge pumps during bulking... I miss it already. I guess I can look forward to huge pumps while at 8% bf one day.

I was progressing at 10lbs/week back then though, and 6 months before that I had never even done a squat. Obviously I wasn't there, progress would have slowed (altho I would have switched to 3x5) and had plenty of work to do, but it seems perfectly feasible to me.

I'm kinda looking forward to the summer...its shaping up to be like last summer which was just work, school, the gym, & obsessing over my diet. I don't even wanna know how much the obscene amount of alcohol ive consumed this year has slowed me down, will be kinda nice to take it easy.

I just did 20 mins of HIIT running, 30 secs sprinting, 1:30 jogging, repeat, feel like my heart is going to explode.

I see. So mostly lift normally and deal with slower recovery and gains (if any), right? Also my diet is nowhere close to yours, I will say its not terrible and gets the job done but I just apply some basic ideas and minimums of nutrients and go with the flow, cant do better at the moment. But yeah, most of what I will be dropping are carbs and silly stuff I take to boost the calorie intake. If I get to 10~% BF I will do some research about what Shaddix has been talking about and see if I can get into single digits. Seriously, I have never been fat, but I have never clearly seen all my abs either. I am curious about the outcome lol, even though I know I will miss eating big just a few weeks into the cutting phase.

I always found it funny that most people get into tremendous shape for the Summer. Just to either drink it all away or get pissed at functions where everyone else is drinking and you can not.

Yeah. I will be getting into tremendous shape for the first time in my life though, and it has been a whole lifestyle change so I am sure I wont be backpedaling after all of it. If I want to drink I will no doubt drink, though. Its all about moderation. After all, a good volume of what I used to drink was just for the sake of it (another round, why not?!) and stopping after the first couple drinks would have been just as enjoyable. But now I have a different view and will be fine.

i don't drink, but chocolate is my weakness

While we're on the subject of vices, anyone notice how weed does/doesn't affect their athletic performance? I feel like it helps me unwind after a workout and get a good night's sleep. I don't really smoke that much so I don't really think it decreases my lung capacity either. I'm guessing that smoking in the morning before going to the gym would be a bad idea, although I don't really know for sure lol

I will ask my good friend that takes wushu really, really seriously and yet smokes like there is no tomorrow. I am positive I have heard him rambling about how if he didnt smoke (or at least not that much) he would have better results endurance wise, but never really got more into the effects pre/post workout or anything else.

    Chocolate is delicious.

Ok that didn't work right. I was writing that on my phone but accidentally posted it before I ifnished writing. I remember reading a post somewhere on some forum that weed has some negative effect on training but it is offset by the increased appetite and more sleep. Don't even know who said it, not concerned enough to look it up as I don't smoke!

Oh I'm not saying you wouldn't/won't get to 300 on squat, I was just saying in the process you would be gaining weight in the form of both fat and muscle.

I feel like it's a lot easier to warm up in the summer before your workout too, because your skin and muscles are already warm when you get to the gym. My gym is in this basement with shitty heat so it always takes me a lot longer to warm up, and it feels like I never get as good of a workout. Same with cardio, sometimes it's so sweltering in there that it's hard to breathe but fuck I love to get drenched with sweat haha

I can't thank weed enough for helping me bulk. It has allowed me to eat waaaaaaay more then I ever could without it. Who knows it may even help during my cutting phase. I just stop smoking and my appetite goes back down lol

I've been doing squats and deadlifts twice a week for a couple months now. Also throwing in box jumps, jogging/sprints, one leg hops and the like. My legs are rarely sore... 15 mins of stationary bike tore my legs up! So sore today lol.

Why are Asians so strong? I always see small Asian guys at the gym cranking out serious weight. Guy must have been 30lbs lighter than me (and I'm 190...) and he was shoulder pressing 80 lb dumbbells. HOW
