Macadamia nuts are awesome. Especially in chocolate. Oh wait.. that's not healthy. Cashews and peanuts are a definite favorite. I'll have a handful or two throughout the day when I get hungry just to coat my stomach til lunch or dinner.
On a side note, I was really bad tonight. I had gone over to a co-worker's house to fix her cable and blu-ray, and she ended up taking me out to a bar for dinner as repayment. I had a 9. oz burger w/ fries and 3 buds. <_> I'll be working that off the next couple days. Still going hard though. Did my first 5 day workout last week. Adding that one day, even if just cardio is freaking rough especially if you are used to 4. Gonna keep it and my diet up though!
Nothing wrong with macadamia nuts + chocolate, especially dark chocolate. mmmm.
Keep it up though! With your workout and diet.
However, so what if you had some beer, burger and fries. You shouldn't punish yourself by thinking "I'll be working it off". Did you enjoy it? If so, great! Enjoy food! Enjoy life. As long as you don't fall off the wagon too far all the time, won't matter. But don't punish yourself. Worst mentality anyone could ever have.
ya man, i agree. plus was she cute? if she was cute, you didnt need to drink too many beers man!
Indeed she was! Unfortunately she is taken. I don't mess around with girls from work anyway. Had a couple bad experiences. It's all good though! We had a fun time. Her b/f is actually the bartender of the place we go to, so we get huge discounts. No biggie, met a couple of her attractive friends, and will probably be going out with em again soonish. Always worthwhile helping out girls your age!
What would be average for someone around the weight of 145 lb / 5'9 to do:
Bench
Dips
Butterfly press
Flat Bench dumbbell press
How do you guys keep pace when lifting? I usually do 4 sets of 4 exercises when I go, and when I go with my roommate it's real easy to keep a steady pace. He says I should always be at the gym for 45 minutes at the minimum no matter what, but I find that's hard to do when I'm by myself.
I usually just wear my headphones. I always do 4 sets, and do 12-15 reps per set. I rest 15-20 seconds per set. I think anything more might be too much. I'm easily at the gym for 70-80 minutes. Don't ignore cardio, even if you're thin. It adds a lot to your workout. Weights alone I can do about 35-40 minutes, maybe a bit more if I do more abs.
I usually take 2-3 minutes between sets on stuff I'm not trying to increase the weight on, but when I'm trying to add 5-10lbs to deadlifts/squats every other session it's not uncommon for me to take 5-7 mins. After really heavy squats it takes a good 3-4 mins just to catch your breath.
I think people make a bigger deal over pace than is necessary. As long as you're not spending more than 3 hours in the gym you're fine, just do the sets when you feel ready.
Are you asking about average lifting weight? If so... hard to say. Everyone is different???
and @Headspace: AT LEAST 45 minutes? Eh. I say AT LEAST 25-30 minutes. You can get a great workout in 30, no doubt.
It really depends on your workout though. Sometimes I do 2x10-15, 3x5-15, 4x4, 5x5, or some crazy ones like 4 sets: 1x6, 1x1, 1x6, 1x1, 3x8. Also depends on my rest times...ranges from 30 seconds to 2 minutes, but even that is pushing it (my patience really sucks...). Actually I lie, sometimes 0 seconds between sets when I do supersets. Also, sometimes I alter my tempo: normal tempo or something like 3 seconds descend, 1 second in between, and then 2 seconds ascend. Because of all these factors, my length of time at the gym changes. I get great workouts as short as 20-25 minutes to as long as 50-60 minutes, never more than that though. There's really no need.
There are places you can see charts of where you rank (novice/beginner/etc) based on how much you lift, but usually only for the olympic lifts, I lost the bookmark when my hard drive died though.
