Has anyone here had any issues regarding breakouts or allergic reactions to Fish Oil?
It's specifically on my chest are only. None on my back or face. This happened to me few months back and the dermatologist said it was due to not showering immediately after the gym or possibly the fish oil.
So I just wanted to get some insight on if any others have had this experience. And if switching to flax oil would help?
I know some people get heat rashes if its humid enough. Never heard of fish oils giving a localized reaction though.
Well i break out a bit on my face too but not sure if thats just from the xtra sweating from the gym. Couldn't get an appointment with the dermatologist till next week. A few people said to stop taking the fish oil for a few days. While others suggested switching to flax.
You recently buy new gym clothes? I know some people who just found out they are allergic to polyester (fiber in their clothing).
Sounds logical enough.
Multipart questions here... work made us go in for a medical screening for insurance purposes, and I got the result back... and I have no idea what they really mean...
They took my blood pressure twice, because the first time was horrible (145/95)... I blame the nurse asking me tons of questions about work. I resent my job, and it pisses me off to no end. After she shut up about my job, and the BP was retaken, it was down to 127/89. Still high, but not "you're going to die".
The blood results are more mysterious to me... So probably more of a biology question.
Glucose: 88 mg/dl
Triglycerides: 153 mg/dl
Cholesterol: 193 mg/dl
HDL: 35 mg/dl
LDL: 127 mg/dl
Sodium: 141 mmol/L
Potassium 3.2 mmol/L
Chloride: 100 mmol/L
Carbon Dioxide: mmol/L
Anion GAP: 17 mmol/L
Calcium 9.5 mg/dl
Urea Nitrogen 12 mg/dl
Creatinine: 0.96 mg/dl
Am I going to die / do I have AIDS? etc... Age 31, 66", 142lbs, non-smoker/non-drinker...
Second question is for the runners out there, especially the ones who started from being, well, not runners. How long does it take to build up respiratory endurance? I can walk for days and not miss a beat, and run without my legs feeling at all tired - but after a few blocks, I feel like my throat and lungs have been scorched with some awful chemical. And for some reason once this happens, I get this pain in my lower jaw, kind of in the wisdom tooth area on both sides.
At any point, does actual physical exhaustion and respiratory exhaustion balance out? Is it better to increase endurance by reaching the point of "fuck, it hurts to breathe", or by pushing that limit and trying to run anyway and maybe dying in the gutter?
And does the jaw thing make any sense? I don't have cavities or impacted wisdom teeth or anything like that, for the record, but running makes me feel like I got punched in the jaw for some reason.
blood results... suppose there is a guideline beside of your each test, just see if whether they are out of the recommended range or not. Well, it is better to ask your doctor, they definitely much pro than here.
For running, you might want to check with some one who is really a running trainer, to check your running form. It might due to the that reason, or it just your blood pressure getting pump too high which is also a danger sign at the moment. The best way still describe all your issue to a sport physicist, including any small details. They should able to analyze it much better
Learn how to breath while running, find a rhythm it helps. Lower jaw is probably hurting because you're to tense, i know this sounds odd but try and relax while running. Probably clenching your jaw while running. Find good running shoes, and learn how to run correctly. Else you will learn very quickly how much shin splints hurt. It will take roughly a month to get used to the new exercise, soreness, rapid breathing, high heart rate will be normal depending on how hard your going at it.
Best thing to do starting out, drink LOTS of water the days before you go running, don't eat roughly 2 hours before you going running, stay hydrated, do a warm up then stretch then go running. Do a mile and look at your time, try and shave 5 to 10 seconds every time your run. Once you hit 7 minutes go up to 1 1/2 miles, once your used to that move up to 2 miles, repeat. This is what i did after i hit the 10 mile mark when i did my training for marathons. Worked great for me, maybe you will find another way this was just my way.
Before you start running though make sure your blood pressure and your health can handle the activity or else you will find yourself in a really bad position as i am sure you know.
In regards to your blood pressure, the first reading would have definitely put you into hypertension. If you think the stress corrupted the result, you may want to ask if you can have the test redone. I'm not sure if they will allow that but it cant hurt to ask. The second reading still puts you into the "pre-hypertensive" category due to your elevated systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Ideally, you want the top number to be under 120 and the bottom number under 80.The blood results are more mysterious to me... So probably more of a biology question.
Glucose: 88 mg/dl - This good, right around where you want it to be
Triglycerides: 153 mg/dl - Very slightly elevated, ideally this should be less than 150, but there is no evidence that reducing it below 200 is beneficial without concurrent CVD
Cholesterol: 193 mg/dl - This is also good, goal here is <200
HDL: 35 mg/dl - HDL is your "good cholesterol." This is slightly lower than you want, as goal is >40.
LDL: 127 mg/dl - This is "bad cholesterol." Ideal values here are <100, but without current CVD or a high risk of CHD (it doesn't look like you have a high risk, based on what you've posted) Goal is 160.
Sodium: 141 mmol/L - good
Potassium 3.2 mmol/L - slightly low, nothing to worry about.
Chloride: 100 mmol/L - good
Carbon Dioxide: mmol/L
Anion GAP: 17 mmol/L very slightly elevated, may be due to the slightly decreased K+
Calcium 9.5 mg/dl - good
Urea Nitrogen 12 mg/dl - good
Creatinine: 0.96 mg/dl - good
Am I going to die / do I have AIDS? etc... Age 31, 66", 142lbs, non-smoker/non-drinker...
What's a good price for used weights nowadays? Everyone I see on CL and such trying to sell for .65-.90 a lb which i'm pretty sure is retail price or close to it.
my knees are warm to the touch after working out (included squats and DLs) about 5 hours ago
is dis a bad sign? never noticed it before
Probably cancer.
fake edit: you mean, your knees are still warm after a workout you finished 5 hours ago? Just means lots of fluid motion down there. Same thing happens to me every once in a while. Its how I remember to ice my legs after a good workout to prevent/reduce swelling.
lay on your back and kick your legs in the air, almost like a fake bike or something, for a couple minutes after you work out
I think I'm gonna give yohimbine a break for a bit then start over at a lower dosage again. This is the second time i feel chest pains after taking yohimbine. This is new though since i used to use yohimbine and this didn't happen before. So i'm guessing it might be because i'm recently combining yohimbine with tyrosine supplements.
No, it's tyrosine. I take it so there is more precursor for norepinephrine production and subsequently, noradrenaline.
