Soooo what's up people? Funny thing happened last week.
I suddenly realized that It has been a year since the workout competition I started.
I figured why not again this year? Obviously have to make some changes but it was fun. Due to some recent health problems I lost all my gains and felt well enough to get back into the swing of things. Of course right after I renew my gym membership I fuck up my knee pretty bad. Doctors think I tore my miniscus and possibly need surgery.
If anyone else is willing to take the helm and continue the 3 month competition I can offer my help in the task.
I need some motivation; I'll jump in this again. Someone get it started;
or if you want to be lazy, copy/pasta last year's then just modify what you need to from there
Just need another person to help. And be serious about it.
I'm in again, definitely need that motivation.
I'll help run it. Do the people need to have a BG account to enter?
I'm in, first time, still really getting into the whole working out thing.
Alright, going to need to figure things out with milkster. Hopefully will start in two weeks.
I'm definitely down for it. On another note I just bought some Newtown for running. After a few days of running my calves are still sore. I have an odd running style, I land on the front of my feet. I suppose that I need to slowly change my running style. Any suggestions? I'm doing the couch to 5k program.
Man my tailbone shoots a rail of pain up my spine when i squat. Hope this goes away.
Started keto Monday, thought I was going to be that guy after my first set of barbell complexes today. Hopefully the light headed / dizziness goes away. Anyone else have this problem or advice? If it continues I'll have to stop keto if I can't keep go hard on compound lifts.
could just mean you need energy. shovel some food into your face and drink more water/gatorade/whatever. source: part of my daily routine. i dunno anything about keto specifically, though.
Keto sucks, but keep at it. Eventually your body adjusts to the lack of sugars in your diet and will attempt to metabolize dietary fat for energy usage while the protein's essential amino acids will be used for muscle repair. It just takes a while; every one is different.
A ketogenic diet is a high protein/fat diet with VERY little carb intake. Very paleo-esque, but you are technically not even suppose to do complex carbs (like yams and sweet potato). Due to the lack of chemical sugars in your diet, your body will deplete it's glycogen storage, and after a period of time, your body will recognize you are not getting any carbohydrates to be broken down into glycogen. It will then tell the liver to convert dietary fat into fatty acids and ketone bodies. The ketone bodies pass into the brain and replace glycogen as an energy source. It's an advance style of nutrition designed for people have are already low in body fat to help burn off that little stubborn bit left.
The first some number of days of keto you can be a little foggy because you aren't supplying your brain with glucose anymore. Eventually your body starts to figure it out and breaks down your own body fat into ketones which can replace glucose and get out of that foggy feeling.
edit: what hushigoshi said
oh good because when i googled it i got a diet used to treat epilepsy and contraindicated for pretty much everyone.
I think I have read that a keto diet can be beneficial for epilepsy as well as autism. It dropped me 60 lbs last year, but I think that was more of a function of the fullness that fat + protein give you allowing me to easily eat under maintenance without even trying. Now I need to start monitoring calories as I have leveled off for 4 months via eating what I want to eat (but still staying keto). I'm positive I can be more careful of the calories and still not ever feel hungry
Yeah, keto diets have been used to treat epilepsy for a loooooong time. It has other great uses as well in terms of fitness, as many here know.
