This is how you move large amounts of money to yourself in WoW also. If you have an alliance character and want to move that money to a horde character, you list a cheap item for a ridiculous price only you would pay.

Money gets moved and done! You could mule yourself lots of gil this way using the AH. Unfortunately the dumbshits at SE would probably ban real players instead of the RMTs by following the idea of "anyone who overpays for anything clearly must be RMT"
