How is needing 1-6 people for a friggin craft a good thing? It's just SE trying to make shit more complicated than it should be.

Hope the crafting itself isn't completely interactive or anything. Imagine if one of the crafters starts to get lag or DCs during it. It also sounds like you could die and lose XP (or at least, lose HP) from the furnace blowing up. Really hope that isn't the case.
And there's the "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT GO TO WOW". Get off SE's dick.
This system sounds strange. So we use synergy to craft new items but instead of them being normal, they get crafted with evolith sockets?
EDIT: Oh, it's just for attaching evoliths. Only success depends on synergy skill and associated craft skills of the item of the people in the party. They took what could be awesome and added unnecessary shit to it.
If you want to dress like the Legion of Doom, you need to bring a Legion of crafters.
We have several high level crafters in my LS, but if we need Gold or Leather 90+ we are screwed.
This is all I have to say with SE taking a nice simple socket system and fucking it up beyond all human recognition... And to think, we're just going to have the exact same shit in XIV.....

One thing that hasn't yet been touched on is the fact that crafter groups will need to "reserve" the furnace similar to breaking an hourglass to claim a Dynamis zone.
I can't wait til patch day. It'll be amusing to see 500 people crowded around one fucking furnace, spamming /check or whatever needs to be done to "claim" it.
Crafters on Phoenix are dicks about helping other people. I don't see this ending well.
Only after acquiring something like GP though, no?
*edit* Nvm, I see it's a quest to get access to your own furnace. That could either be simple, or a skullfuck, only time will tell.
"Ahoy adventurer! I noticed you're interested in this here synergy furnace.. well, I see you're a native of San d'Oria, so in order to get your own personal furnace, you'll need to head to Davoi and bring me the head of Overlord Bakgodek! See you later!!"
Thankfully no, however I guess if this by-product is required for the quest then yeah you'd be right.1) Obtain the "synergy crucible" key item.
The synergy crucible serves as the receptacle for different varieties of elemental "fewell," the source of power for furnaces. Characters need only acquire the crucible once by completing a new quest.
~The furnace is reaching dangerously high combustion levels! In the hands of the untrained, synergy may prove to be a painful exercise. For instance, if left unchecked, the swelling of elemental forces and the accumulation of impurities inside the furnace are surefire recipes for explosions and leakages. Synergy participants should not be surprised if the furnace literally detonates in their faces. As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure, and the best way to prevent is to improve your synergy prowess.
~The furnace is having a meltdown!
~The furnace readies Mijin Jakure
Player A takes 3,000 Damage
Player B takes 3,000 Damage
Player C takes 3,000 Damage
Player D takes 3,000 Damage
Player E takes 3,000 Damage
Player E falls to level 74.
Player F takes 3,000 Damage.
Players A-F fall to the ground.
This is how I invision the "blowing up in your face" part of the text. Should be full or lulz if true.
Group synthing works fine in MMM V04. There are no rewards, and they made the skill up rate so low that it isn't worth using a maze on, but this concept isn't totally new and out of the blue. lol @ people complaining about needing other people for something. If you haven't run across a couple of people that you can trust to pay attention for a minute during a synth, then I honestly feel bad for you.
Quest: To craft afar
Requirements: 100,000 Cinder's.
Reward: Portable furnace
I would have seen it working if, say, the skills needed weren't crafting skills.
Trying to find just one crafter can be annoying, but five? Just how out of touch is SE?
ThisThis is all I have to say with SE taking a nice simple socket system and fucking it up beyond all human recognition...
Its also nice to see that I'm not the only one that thinks this Evolith/Synergy system is doomed for epic failure. Unless the stats you can get are utterly amazing why bother jumping through all these hoops?
When you have a crack team like Bill Gate's it's possible.

Switch the computer over to XI and I'd say that last panel is a pretty accurate description of the dev team's thought process.
Honestly, i think people already have most of the crafters in their LS's already. And if you invite a douch to your party for a synthesis... your pretty much asking them to mess up your synth for you. I really thing that most crafters would feel bad about failing your synth. They wouldnt mess up on purpose.
Well, unless your the douch. I mean people like Feiwong would have a terrible time finding high level crafters to help him. And if he did, one would probably mess it up on him. But most players are not Feiwong. Most are cool people. And i dont see this happening unless you invite someone who feels theyve been wronged by you.
Personaly, I thought that Voucher 04 (Synthesis) was one of the funnest MMM types. I liked the group synthesis aspect of it. I just hated how rare the skillups were. I mean coming away with .1, per run, on each person involved in the synths till level 50 would have been fine. Then .1 every other run for peopple involved in the synths at 51-60. This was the only bad part of that version of group synthesis.
So far, I like this system.
It has the potential to breath more life back into crafting. And anything that does that is good in my book.
Of course, you will have everyone walking away.. exclaiming that this system sucks before getting some skill in it. Remember, its a whole new system. It has skill ups and everything. Much like chocodigging, this will probably seem to be pretty crappy until some people aquire synergy skill. guys just need to give it a shot and stick with it, really.
I can already see some innovative players moving their crafting alts over to the synergy furnaces while they are gaming. So, that they increase their chances at skilling synergy on your dime. Once skilled, theyde have the price they charge per synergy in thier bazaar message. Which is fair enough (just going to be jealous of the goldsmithers). I dont see finding crafters to help you with this being all that hard to find.
