Certain synergy recipes demand expertise in specific synthesis disciplines, but synergy will be possible so long as a participating party member possesses the requisite skill in question. No single character needs to have all skill sets, and the supplier of ingredients is not required to possess any whatsoever. Each participant in synergy plays an equally significant role in the process. There is the noted requirement of a prerequisite crafting skill.3) Recruit party members.
Synergy is a joint activity that requires the cooperation of other players. The party leader should seek fellow synergists with the right skills needed for a particular recipe and invite them to join a party.
I guess expertise doesn't mean what I think it means.Certain synergy recipes demand expertise in specific synthesis disciplines
Wow, you are reading a lot into that. It could be reference to any number of things in that post. If it had to do with crafting don't you think they would have been explicit about it?
They only reference crafting ONE TIME in the whole post and that is in reference to a alternative, alternative means to get fewell.
The "skills" that you have bolded are just in reference to the skills of synergy. It is literally just the first line of the description and I have to wonder if you just stopped reading at that point because the next paragraphs pretty clearly draw a distinction between synergy and crafting.4) Fill up on fewell.
Synergy engineers can inform you regarding your crucible's current supply of fewell and, if required, also provide you with a top-up in exchange for gil. Alternatively, it is also possible to directly replenish the crucible using either crystals or the new synthesizable item version of fewell (alchemy skill required).
Also if you actually read the description of the process there is no mention (outside of the alchemist alternative fewell source) of any kind of crafting at all. There are numerous differences to be noted between synergy and traditional single-player synthesis, one of them being the maintenance of elemental balance within the abovementioned synergy furnace. Synergists-to-be, take heed! Being a new field of science with numerous theories yet unverified, synergy is not a risk-free undertaking, and practitioners are advised to steel themselves for the occasional mishap.
Read the entirety of the update notes and it will make a lot more sense.
So what are the "unique skills"? Synergy is one skill and if every person involved needs to have it it isn't unique. I don't think I'm reading too much into it all.
Ahh, that is more clear there, thank you for pointing that out. There definitely is a lack of clarity in these update notes. I didn't read that to mean that it was a crafting skill that would be needed the first time I looked at it (synthesis discipline didn't stand out to me at the time to mean a craft) but I can see what you are talking about there.
I should add though that the #3 reference could be in regards to the synergy skill level, not a crafting skill.
Reading the JP version, it definitely states that "certain" synthesis items will require crafting skills.
Yeah, which SE loves to state whenever crafting may be involved with a system.
They also specifically state Alchemy, so obviously if it uses certain types of craftable items you'll need a skill in it in order to make the item.
Saying you'll need 5 level 100 crafters is ridiculous when SE doesn't even mention it...and 'expertise' can mean as long as you're not @0 zero.
well.. the potential just nose dived, thanks SE had an opportunity but you shit all over it when you added into the equation that we needed to trust others to not break our gear worth millions.
Read the update notes.

Where does it say "trust others not to break our gear worth millions"?
The overall notes never said ANYTHING about trading to OTHER players, now did it? Or did I somehow miss where they said "You'll have to trade your stuff to another player."
How is this new system different from what we have now? I had someone synth my manteel and it blew up... such are the risks of crafting. How will group synthing be any different? Why did you even expect it to be different?
The system even allows the party leader to recieve the loot once it potentially suceeds meaning your shit is less likely to be ninja'd and the crafters get something out of it besides a "'thank you" before the item gets put up on AH for profit. (cinder points for new aprons maybe?)
Finally, being able to summon a furnace in the field means that during an LS event you can simply have your LSmates do the synthing on the spot instead of having to go to a town.
You guys really expected SE to allow us to socket gear without chances of breaks? lol. This is XI crafting, not WoW crafting.
Really.... the only recent system I recall without no limitations whatsoever has been Fay Augments and it can be argued that the limitation there is money in being able to throw base weapons into the npc.
I think he might be referencing the fact that the pot might blow up if you have an imbalance or whatever. I agree with you though, that I don't think this means the item will blow up but something else like the pot might blow up or something. It sounds very weird.
It really hard to figure out the legitimate complains/criticisms from all the whining in this thread though. You are right, BG is getting to be worse than pretty much any of the other forums when it comes to the QQ.
Hahaha...
Fucking SE, crushing hopes and dreams since 2002.
I knew SE would find a way to screw up Evolith: Synergy.
Jeez, is it THAT horrible to be social? lol
The JP version doesn't use the word crafting "expertise" but "existing" crafting skills. So I would imagine that there are items that require virtually no crafting skills to create via Synergy and items that would require some degree of crafting skills (single or multiple disciplines) with the most rare items that "could" require 5 level 100 crafters.
We just have to wait and see.
This wont be out for a while.. seeing as its coming in the 2nd November update.. If the first update comes with the recipe to craft Fewell, we're gonna see Alchemists flood the market until supply runs out, then jack up the price on them. good money to be made.
and @dakpluto, you so win an internet for calling it.
