My sister now has H1N1 and has been coughing/bitching up a storm in the main living room.
Should I on purposely overdress myself and go overboard on the gas-mask/hazmat suit get-up?
y/y
I know two people know that have gotten the flu this season, one other person has a sick kid that they had to take to the ER. They're all telling me the same thing: shit sucks, hospitals are crowded, try not to get it. It's not trivial.
Last time I got the flu I think I was 8 years old. Also, I am too lazy to go get a shot I don't need so whatever. If I got sick, it would give a legitimate excuse not to go in to work, which is always a plus.
lol, yes because I don't believe that BIG GUMMENT is working in collusion with BIG PHARMA to make them all rich + kill off humans with swine flu to make room for the lizard people to take over obviously means I believe governments are always benevolent.
and yes, there are most certainly hitlerian eugenicists in the Obama Admin. I hear that they're all Kenyan Muslims and they're heading up his socialist death panels.
You're lucky. I'm so broke I can't afford to get sick. I actually did have H1N1 about a month ago so I guess I have an acquired immunity. So I don't have to worry about that happening this season, but for the last few years, getting sick always lead to me not eating a few weeks later due to being too broke.
I can't wait until I get my degrees and I can get a job with enough pays and benefits that missing a few days doesn't leave me starving.
As I told you before, never had the flu shot. Parents have always been against it (have had all my normal vaccinations though) and since it has been my decision whether or not to get it I haven't even considered getting it. My parents are doctors, never get the flu shot and rarely get sick, despite working with sick people all day. Take care of yourself and it'll take care of you. Saying this I must say that I'm not against the flu shot completely, I just don't believe that everybody needs it. If you're someone like me who takes care of themselves, doesn't eat junk food, fast food, drink excessively, etc., and rarely gets sick enough to consider altering their normal schedule then why should I even consider getting a flu shot?
I did actually get sick this year though I was over it in 3 days with a lingering cough for another couple days.
I wouldn't say I'm lucky. I am always broke and have a shit job with shit pay. It's just that I've been a hermit for the past few months and I don't spend my money on anything except MMOs lol
I've been fortunate enough to have a nurse for a mother and have gotten a flu shot annually as long as I could remember. Granted, I get a little sick a few days afterwards (body kicking the virus' ass, etc.) but have never officially had the flu. I love it! Even when the vaccine was scarce and the elderly/young children are forced to go w/o it... i come home and there's little vials randomly in my refrigerator @ home! Moms r great!
as far as the h1n1 specific vaccine, F*it, I don't need to go outta my way to get a 2nd vaccine.... hopefully my immune system is enough to battle that particular strain as well. If not... paid time off work!
Besides, I think H1N1 is a myth anyways. Just people going nuts-o over an outbreak. Its killed what... 1 person? Wasn't it an infant too?
Got an e-mail this morning at my university offering free vaccinations for this. Got mine which was surprisingly quick and not painful at all. Had to get this anyway when I start to work in the hospital by the end of this year.
Free and local didn't see why not regardless XD
I got the vaccination, the fun way, just went ahead and caught H1N1. (not on purpose) So now I guess my immune system knows how to fight it, hopefully won't get it again this year, although, truth be told, it wasn't that bad. I just ran a really high fever (102/103) and felt like ass for 2 days and then just had a cough for 2 weeks.
It's weird how everyone keeps talking about how bad their coughs were with H1N1. I didn't cough at all when I had it. But my fever was over freakin 105 and a half at one point. I don't have health insurance so I just had to stay home and hope my brain didn't deep fry or disintegrate or undergo nuclear fusion or something. I know a lot of other people who have had it, and their experience wasn't nearly as bad as mine. My immune system is normal, so I don't see why mine was worse. I guess I was just unlucky. But then again, it went away pretty fast, faster than the flu normally goes away.
I did end up getting a really bad cough later, but I don't think that was related to the flu.
I got the nose mist and still got swine flu anyways. Shit sucked.
Yeah, it was like half a week after getting it.
