Apologies if this is already answered here but I asked in RQT and seems to have been overlooked.
Is there a recipe I can synth for 70-80 using just 84 alchemy and 21smithing or will I be required to get alchemy to 88(?) and purchase the 15k GP item?

Sounds good, does the person need to be by the furnace or anything? Or is simply being in zone enough.
Ok thanks for the info
Recently I attempted 40 synths on Byakko's Haidate. I'm level 73 Synergy. Out of those 40 synths, all done at once, I didn't get one HQ3. My process is to feed fewell until as close to target as possible, operate to remove impurity, and then end synth.
Should I be getting any element that went into the negative into the positive? Should I be removing pressure? Or was I just extremely unlucky for a batch of synths?
As long as you are getting HQs (1,2s in your case) then you are doing everything correctly.
Only elements that matter are the required ones. Pressure, impurities, explosions etc do not matter.
Your level does matter so get 80 not like it takes a long time.
For more expensive synergy items it worth it to get fewel perfect on all elements. For tatters 1 off is acceptable.
Yes I did get a number of HQ2's so I suppose that's good. I'll cap it before I attempt anymore synths. I don't want to waste my time and effort farming seals.
So Impurities do not matter for augments? Is it only for HQing item synths such as Grim +1, Vulcan's Pearl, etc?
Thank you for the reply too. I appreciate it.
No one is sure, so each of us have our own beliefs based on what we've done, and the amount of effort we want to put in per synth. Personally, I believe the only factors relevant enough to care about are getting the elements to match up. For cheap tatters I do +/-1, for tatters that are 80-100k each I make it perfect element wise. I don't count out the fact that a straight silhouette, less impurities, and less pressure may impact HQ rate, but not enough to spend all that fewell.
With my level 80 Synergy mule for my level 0 Synergy main, I did 94 synergy synths (Hecatomb Mittens +1) in the last day and got this HQ distribution:
13% NQ : Average Synergy Time = 32.8 seconds
45% HQ1 : Average Synergy Time = 31.3 seconds
30% HQ2 : Average Synergy Time = 28.5 seconds
12% HQ3 : Average Synergy Time = 30.3 seconds
I HQ3'd more often when my alignment was perfect (16% vs. 9% for +/-1), but the difference was not significant at this sample size.
Any idea on the alchemy/woodworking level needed for celestial globe?
I'm 100+ woodworking and wasn't able to make it myself, had to have an alchemy buddy 100+ in party and that was when sub cap was still 60 so I'd assume 70+ alchemy.
So everyone believes that HQ rate is higher for augmenting with a high level character, that seems reasonable. What I'm curious in is the specifics of this. Because someone with low skill can get a good HQ rate if a friend with 80 synergy does all the inputs for them and they just hit end.
So that got me wondering as the 80 synergist isn't ending the synth. What dictates the HQ chance?
Is it just having an 80 synergist in the party?
Or is it them doing the commands?
If them doing the commands, is it just doing 1 command? Or the majority? Or all?
And if the low level person does any input themselves, will that lower hq rate to their level instead of the Lv80 guy's?
I finally got frustrated enough by the lack of any hard data on synergy HQ rates that I started recording my own data (day, moon phase, impurities, pressure, alignments, and cinder return for every synth). I'd be happy to include some testing with a level 1 synergist helping as well. Once I have some good base data, could compare that with: a) helper in party afk, b) helper operating furnace while I synth.
Unfortunately, it will likely be weeks (or months) before I have enough data to draw any reasonable conclusions from.
While it isn't a lot of data I have had super low level people somehow accidentally feed at the begining a few times. And while most the time it made me ready to explode immediately I still hqd decently.
Basically just curious if with future augments I can just get an 80 friend to afk, instead of them having to do all the work. im high enough skill to get perfect alignment with low impurities with ease, just the hq rate upon hitting that, that's a concern
