This is just sad but true.

It's kinda true though. The moment you stop being HARDCORE LEADER then you're 'obviously' a lazy fuck to the eyes of everyone who for years just showed up and did what you told them to do.

At least I got a dota buddy outta it!

Also, don't start fucking non council members: it just leads to drama. Stick to sticking people who have say in matters anyway.

back to topic though, i think a good leader is one that doesn't make exceptions to there own rules, has allot of playtime, and treats the oldest members and the newest members equally

i absolutly hate older members in ls's that can get away with anything because "i was here when the ls formed" these people are more like cancer in the shell than anything else

Sorry but i would treat my older members with more respect. Why wouldn't I when they have shown nothing but loyalty to me and my shell? I wouldn't let them get away with being dumb shits, but i would go out of my way to help them as much as possible unlike someone that's a week old.

Seriously, it's the same problem actual workplaces have with interlevel relationships: it doesn't matter if the person in power actually ISN'T showing favoritism or getting influenced by their SO, it colors what people think of their decisions, especially unpopular ones. And once you go down that road it's going to be a pain in the ass... forever.

"Oh, we are weighing dynamis heavier? Because Cindy Mcblowjobs shows up to every single one, perhaps?"

its not that i jump shells on purpose, but most of the shells i join end up having the leadership quit, flounder for 2-3 months, and then the shell breaks, i just kinda know how to pick them i guess.

i don't mind if you treat the older members with respect, but letting them get away with breaking the rules is unacceptable, especially when the same offense = instant kick or probation for the newer members

didnt have many issues with leadership..our shell is a DKP system, any job can lot anything as long as you have the points for it and if you have the right attendance. Bank is split every month, people with little to no attendance get none.

ok I lied. our blm wanted to lot hauteclaire, but we didnt let him

I never liked LSs that insisted on an LS code of conduct, since I hate the idea of forcing people to shove things under the rug, or condescend to supervise anyone's personal lives. I've always refused to crack pearls or admonish people for their personal bullshit as long as it never ends up making them play badly and sabotage my runs, and I've never withheld loot for personal issues either. It's just stupid and harmful to treat your members like children and it usually bites you in the ass when eventually they realize how repressed they are. By the same token, as long as you're playing right for your leaders, you should be able to call them poncy goatfuckers without getting a pearl cracked.

I only really look for professionalism in LSs I've joined and tried to encourage it in those I've lead or helped lead. I want people who are concerned primarily about winning the event they're doing, and only afterwards about their loot and ambitions. I want people who can play with someone they passionately hate and still adequately support them in an event. I don't want to tolerate bad players, particularly those with maat hat's syndrome, or oversensitive drama magnets who get hung up on personal issues and generally just take shit too seriously.

    tl;dr:
Treat your players like the adults they hopefully are.

Reward your players for and only for playing well, not for being a sycophant or politically correct.

    Win first, ask questions later.
