    Optical Driver failed to start

    ok so my laptop wont read disk any more, and under the device manager it says it failed to start. The driver is up to date so what do i need to do ><. its an alienware pc and i have access to myhive but dunno what driver to download to try and replace it

    Call alienware's support. Ask to have it fixed at the factory if you're still under warranty. If not, download the drive from my-hive and install.

    not under warranty, and what would the driver be under? like chip set, ext

    I honestly don't know, but since you're out of warranty, you're fucking boned on getting it fixed by alienware, expect 500 bucks to replace the drive.

    Just look through the driver list and match up the name of the device to the one on the list in the hive.

    $39 usd - 1 time phone tech support
    $129 usd - 1 year phone tech support

    if requried to send in for repair, extra labor and parts fee.
