American Thanksgiving Recipes for a Canadian

So we've done Canadian Thanksgiving and had the big turkey and stuffing and whatnot. My husband, however, is American and I thought it'd be nice to do a SECOND Thanksgiving. But not a second turkey.

What are some other traditional-esque American Thanksgiving type food, outside of turkey and pumpkin pie (which I am sure I can manage), that wouldn't require slaving over an oven from 9am until supper?

    Help please!

It's also pretty common to do a baked ham instead of (or in addition to) a turkey. Can still be a good bit of work, but not as much as a turkey.

    Obviously stuffing and/or mashed potatoes.

Some things depend on family. Candied sweet potato dishes are relatively common, though I never had them growing up because my mom doesn't like sweet potatoes. Green bean casserole is also popular.
Both of those will typically be available in "kit" form at supermarkets around Thanksgiving, but I don't think the basic recipes are all that time consuming either way.

Also, despise them as I do, cranberries in some form or another always seem to make it in. Those, my mom does like. So get a disgusting can of cranberry sauce if you must.

honey glazed hams are fairly popular.

pizza, denny's (because it's always open), or chinese are also popular for lazy people like me.

Turkey/and or Ham, sweet potatoes/yams, cranberries, cornbread, stuffing ( obvious if with turkey lol ) green-been casserole, pumpkin pie, Dinner rolls!! everyone always seems to forget those they are important lol. all are relatively easy and doesn't take m to much time bar the turkey of course....You could just fry it like some people do, its not bad, but i prefer the old-fashioned way myself lol.

Turnip and Carrots. One of my favorite veggie comboes of all time.
Just dice up 1 part turnips and 1 part carrots, boil both together until tender, drain/mash then season however you like. I prefer butter and black pepper.

Green bean casserole has been a big one with my family for as long as I can remember and my favorite casserole evar! Many variations on it. Campbell's soup website has a few of them. I substitute roasted fresh green beans for frozen/canned. Don't use frozen beans. Ever.

Baked apples. So many ways to do this. Granny smith work the best in my experience. Can stuff them too. I prefer to dip them in spices/sugar then wrap them in a pie crust before baking.

My family typically does a ham and turkey. Baked spiral sliced hams are common. Doesn't take too long in the oven seeing as you're just re-heating the meat. If the water content of the ham is high you might want to bake it longer than instructed. Soggy ham is nasty. Prep time depends on if you glaze or not, but fairly simple anyway. If you use your own glaze I recommend ground cloves.

    Hope it helps!

Or do Cracklin' Bread. It's cornbread, but with bacon in it.

    Fry bacon.
    Crumble bacon into cornbread batter.
    Bake.
    Enjoy.

marinate the Ham with Dr. Pepper and pineapple juice, don't go to nuts on the Dr.Pepper, can make the ham taste really sweet which isn't ideal.
If gotten a spiral cut ham, can easily apply pineapple glaze mixed with brown sugar. Pineapple glaze can be found in the Asian isle of a grocery store.

then add the typical Italian home cooking from my family: lasagna, baked ziti, tiramasu, and good old fashion tomato sauce made from scratch with fist-sized meatballs and sausage.
