It really differs, I have 4-5 friends who own wii's and their casuals/brogamers and you can bet everyone of them will pick up this game. Personally I dont like arguing for the wii because I dont like the console, but with this size of an install base, even if 1% of the people who own the console pick it up, thats 4-5 million copies.

With a little research, with very rough numbers, Super Mario Galaxy with an instal base of 15-20 million sold 7-8 million copies. With double the instalbase you'd expect it to do better, so we'll see.

Main problem I intend to see with NSMBW's sales is that a lot of 'us' (hardcore gamers) won't be picking it up anytime soon due to all the heavy-hitters having just hit within the last month, with more still to come on the 360/PS3 systems.

Regardless, if NSMBW is anything like the DS version, this'll just be a rental for me, as I 100%'d NSMB DS within two days. -.-

Bill O'Reilly, shilling for Nintendo? It's more likely than you think.

I think Reggie is going to win that bet. This is a title that almost the entire install base of the Wii is going to pick up. You can't bet on that kind of sales with MW2. We're also talking about the entire holiday season here.

If Reggie was claiming that NSMBW would outsell MW2 on it's release date, I'd say he was a fucking maniac. But we're talking about the entire duration of the holiday season, I'd say his gamble is perfectly within reason.

yeah after thinking about it it doesn't seem as ludicrous as it did at first glance, still a tad skeptical, but it isn't as ridiculous as I initially thought.

So long as its not too short i wont mind. Back in the day I used to grind through mario world on my snes every afternoon after school >_>.

Looks like it should have been WiiWare though...

It's a huge game. According to Nintendo it's as big if not bigger than Super Mario World, and second in difficulty only to the original Super Mario Brothers 2 on the NES.

    SMB2 wasn't that hard though.

He said 'original' SMB2, so he was probably referring to what was known as SMB "The Lost Levels" that we only released in NA in Super Mario All Stars on SNES.

This. And even then, the lost levels was a very watered down version of the original, in part due to the graphical upgrades and a couple tweaks to make the game easier.

making me want a Wii more than anything else so far. 2D SMB is still the pinnacle of non-RPG gaming in my heart.

I can beat Super mario world in 10 minutes, and get 96 in a couple hour top. I'm not saying it wasnt an awesome game, but it's not particularly "huge" by today standard.
