Why do the only 2 storms to come near the us this year have to land in Pensacola? What did we do?!? Anyone else on the forums live around here? I get Tuesday off of work with pay at least.

Seems like where ever you live in America, there is at least 1 natural disaster that can affect you. Whether it is blizzards, hurricanes, earthquakes, flooding, fires, excessive heat (does that count?) etc., you can't escape it.

lol, everyone calls it Penis-cola.. It'll probably be no worse than a bad thunderstorm that doesnt stop for a day. I still dont like them after Ivan, in 2004, pratically oblitterated everything around here. My house is on a small boat canal leading to Escambia bay, so hurricanes are really scary. I got lucky and only had 2 broken windows from trees during that one. I'm not expecting anything more than a yard completely full of tree debris from this one though. Fall + hurricane = trees get emptied of all leaves overnight.

AHHHH!!!!!! If my pretty new car gets a dent, i'll be sad.


edit: I was reminissing and looking at pictures from back then. You would have to be a fool not to be afraid of hurricanes!

You'd have to be an even bigger fool to build right on a shoreline that's ground zero for hurricanes.

Then again we get idiots in LA who build on hillsides, don't clear brush until after fire decimates them to the roots, then cry on local TV news when annual desert thunderstorms carve out the remaining hillside out from under their $14M homes.

Canada gets every natural disaster except for active volcanos, afaik
