SE doesn't give two shits about astral burns, and neither should anyone else.
I dont recall this ever happening, nor does it screw up AF burning, still doing it even after update

Then you're like the majority of SCHs who never did in the first place.

Too bad before MV merits were still the 2nd best cat1 merits there were, regardless of stacking. I haven't checked out this new MV delay on a helix, but sublimation merits are still pretty useless for anything except precharging it.

Do people still not understand what MV merits do?

Meriting a JA on a 10 minutes timer that you use in the rare circumstances where a helix is better than a plain nuke vs meriting a JA that you ALWAYS use unless you have a RDM in your party who is free enough to constantly refresh you. Those 30s delays between using a full charge and starting to charge again do add up.
I believe most people find the latter more useful.

I bet if you try really, really hard, you can stick a couple more logical fallacies in there.

Bleh, I really didn't want to do this, but here goes.

What would you like me to assume as a base HP value? I'm not sure off the top of my head, but I believe as a hume I'm in the ~1000 area, so 250 max sublimation base value.

With both hat and body on while idling, You get 4pool per 3 seconds. So it takes 187 seconds to fully charge, at which point I get 250mp. I then spend 30 seconds getting nothing, etc.
    This is a 86.2% uptime of 4mp/tick.
If you change this to 300 max sublimation, that changes it to 225 seconds to fully charge, which is 88.2% uptime of 4mp/tick.

    Looking at a 10minute period, that's 600 seconds, so .862*600=517.2 seconds uptime.
.882*600=529.2 seconds uptime. You get an extra 12 seconds worth of ticks. That's almost exactly 4 ticks per 10minutes, or 16mp per 10minutes.
BUT WAIT. That 12 seconds you have a vermillion on, so you actually lose 4 mp of that 16. So you actually get 12mp/10minutes due to your sublimation merits + precharge.

So, assuming you use it on cooldown, that's a whopping 1.2mp/minute ignoring the precharge 50mp.

MV merits gave you 2x damage, but .75x duration. This is a 50% increase in damage from a helix. If you care, 50% of a helix is 43mp/10minutes worth of extra damage.

Now here's the catch. You can use MV right at the start, and again at 11 minutes. So 30 seconds into the fight, the MV gave you 43mp already, while sublimation has to build up to that. So this comparison is only fair at 10minute exact intervals. Any fight that has a duration less than an exact muliple of 10minutes will favor Modus Veritas merits even more, because say in 13 minute fight, you get 2 MVs for 86 mp worth of damage, and sublimation was only worth 50+1.2*13=65mp.

Do sublimation merits have a place? Sure, if you find yourself only in LightArts ever, then I guess MV merits aren't too great (though I'd argue if you're fighting things that a helix will get full effect on, with MV merits it's worth swapping, tossing it up, MVing, then switching back...esp if you're switching to aspir or something anyway), and Sublimation may have a palce, but don't delude yourself on what they do, it's ~1.2mp/minute +50mp at the start of a fight, best case scenario. MV will give you more MP worth of damage in most scenarios.

[Edit: Also, what? Helix is always better than a plain nuke unless, a: you want hate, b: you want to sleep, c: the mob will be dead in less than a minute.]

Has anyone tested the delay yet on MV?

Like a tard, I forgot to test myself last night.

And btw, sublimation and MV merits are both equally useless. Depends on your playstyle if you ask me. For myself, I play sch 90% in dark arts, so I prefer doing that free tierIV worth of damage every 10 minutes. If you're more of the light arts variety MV merits would be a complete waste, so sublimation merits would be that much of a better choice.

edit: ^Beat me to it. Also you're assuming that you are full timing af head and relic body. Unless I'm in light arts I'm usually only getting 2 mp/tick sublimatioin for the majority of the time. That should even be less of a benefit for meriting sublimation.

Tested this myself. The delay has no noticable affect on using MV on your own helix so the delay is less than 3 seconds or so. This was not really a test just screwing around with it (I don't know very many sch's to actually figure out the delay)

    In case anyone is wondering.

That's good at least. Still the 2nd best cat1 merit.

Did I say it screwed up astral flow burns? No, I didn't. My entire point was that SE doesn't give a rat's ass about astral flow parties. Try to keep up, champ.

Next time you burn, use your 2hr. Assuming you pulled more then 25 mobs, tab around & notice that some of them still have 100% hp after your first (or for that matter, several) blood pacts. If you pull the entire tunnel like I do, you'll notice that most all of them haven't been touched. Then, slap yourself for being stupid.

For 3 people checking the same mobs after a blood pact? k.

Strange how this "lag" wasn't occurring when I first started burning Korroloka.

This is incorrect. I'm not sure what the cap is on astral flow now, but there is certainly one there. Often when starting at lvl 11 with 3 summoner's there will be many mobs left to thunderspark that have only eaten one astral flow and take awhile to wear down.
