Boxing FOTY: Miguel Cotto vs Manny Pacquiao (145lb Catchweight)

Anyone besides me excited for this fight? November 14th @ the MGM Grand

On one hand, you have Miguel Cotto who has spent most of his young career fighting guys most other welterweights stayed away from (Margarito, Judah, Mosley, Clottey, Quintana, etc)

On the other hand, you have a guy who has went from 106 lbs to this fight, which will be at 145 lbs (Catchweight...), looking to grab his 7th title in 7 different weight classes, something that's never happened in Boxing History

Vegas odds favor Manny Pacquiao, though I think the fight will be a much closer bout than a lot of people realize. Miguel Cotto isn't Ricky Hatton.

I think it's $50 USD.. this Saturday.

Mayweather would beat both of them pretty handily.

So will this fight go longer than two rounds? I was in Vegas for Hatton/Pacquiao and was so relieved I didn't pay 70 bucks to watch it on a theater screen, because the bar's TVs showed me all that was interesting about the fight 10 minutes after the opening bell.

I'm seeing this to be a really good fight. Manny has been getting better and better with his right but Cotto has shown to survive pretty nasty cuts and keep tempo. The catchweight is a tad heavy for Manny but if he does beat Cotto it'd be a real loss, unlike the shady shit Margarito was doing.

Exactly. In my mind I see Cotto as an undefeated man, but I still see Pacman coming out on top.

The only controversy in boxing is occasionally ringside judges score fights where it's as if they were watching a completely different fight. Examples, 116-111 for Cotto over Clottey (I had it 114-113 Cotto), Diaz over Malignaggi something like 118 over 112 or something ridiculous like that

The Mayweather "controversy" wasn't very controversial, it's just that he decided to pay the fine of coming in over the weight limit

The catchweight is bullshit to begin with. It's specifically tailored to Cotto who's already a natural welterweight to begin with. Cotto by decision.
