Hearing conflicting reports of WHM shantatto locking onto people and being unable to be peeled off.
Happened to us last night but some people it isn't happening to? Any ideas?

When one Shantotto is at a certain % of health the other will randomly attack someone from what I noticed.
Well, it happened at near 100% HP. Would you say it happens by like 90% HP?
Possibly bugged? I only seen one gang up at ~50%
That's what I'm thinking. Exact order of events went like this:
Caiti ran in and aggro'd everything and both started nuking her
I voke D. and ran her back to hallway
Caiti started running around in a circle w/o casting on WHM at all so we could curebomb her
45s - 1min later WHM locks onto our DRG
Caiti pours about 1k+ worth of BLU spells into WHM w/o it so much as looking
We all stare confused.
The stat states
Spoiler: show
so your edit would make more sense, couldn't be MAB+20. Doesn't make sense with the "+10%" there.
Forgot to post once we won, been doing other events and stuff. Here's our winning set up!
MNK/sam MNK/war SMN/whm SCH/rdm SCH/rdm RDM/whm
*gasp* no SAM or WHM!
Was this probably more difficult without two WHM's? Most likely. But since everybody is so willing to help out 8), we had to work with what jobs we had.
Here's what we did with this specific set up:
Pulled D.Shan to door, like suggested.
Had RDM hold B.Shan, like suggested.
We planned on wiping, but first triggered their "cooperative" mode. Got D.shan to about 3% but wiped. That's alright, wait for them to reset. RR (unweakened from the hexes), rebuff, cast reraise this time, and rest just like you're starting all over. Same thing.
Pull D.Shan to the door, but this time B.Shan won't cooperate with D.Shan, so the RDM/whm can hold her better. Also, both MNK's 2hour'd with D.Shan's HP @ 55% before all the hayday with her AoE status effects. First SCH/rdm used tabula rasa when the MNK's hp was in orange and spammed; barparalynaga, paralynaga, poisonaga, virunaga(virus/plague or whatever might actually only be from B.Shan's divine malison idr), Erasega, AoE firestorm(storm surge), CureIV's with potency stratagem, etc. Second SCH used tabula rasa about 20 seconds after the first SCH/rdm so you're getting the overlapping curing that you need to survive.
After D.Shan dies(some ppl popped a Hi-Elixir), rest a bit and start on B.Shan. While people were resting our SMN sent Garuda after B.Shan. We kept an eye on our RDM, he needed a few cures to help him out, his HP got a little low. Other than her divine malison move (which stuns/silences), she's pretty easy. Take her down, just keep an eye on your timer. We won with 2 minutes to spare I believe.
Throughout the entire fight the SMN used Garuda/Predator Claws, and at one point called Light Spirit to Curaga4(I think) the RDM while we were resting and he was holding B.Shan.
I suggest mages taking Echo Drops, and everybody having a stack of antidotes at the very least. There's no reason to not have echo drops, and the poison from D.Shant's scythe move is pretty harsh, especially when stacked with the Bio.
G'luck all!
It's been a long time since I actually enjoyed a final BC. Went x4 SMN, COR, RDM. Was fun to not have the same old standard set up for fights!
Got the win, first try with a pickup pt, setup WHM/SMN, WHM/BLM, DRK/NIN, DRK/NIN, DRK/NIN, SAM/NIN. We picked on D.Shantotto first, pulled her to the door as seems normal and had the SAM hold B.Shantotto for as long as he could. When B.Shantotto assisted D, 2hr'd her down as WHMs started with Curaga IV spam, and survived long enough to kill her.
We actually probably should have gotten the win without any deaths but our WHMs were not on the ball with healing and missed an obvious spot to 2hr. We wiped, and to make matters worse 3/6 of us ignored the command to stay down until a wipe if you died, and so upon getting them back up we had to wait 5 mins for weakness and another 3-4 mins for mp. Still had plenty of time, engaged B.Shantotto, and our WHMs seemed to forget that they could cure and we almost wiped again. Thankfully one of our WHMs remembered he had his 2hr and after about 10 seconds of us spamming "WHM 2hr" in pt chat, bene'd us back to full and we finished her off with relative ease.
Bottom line for us was getting D.Shantotto down quickly, and surviving rage long enough to bring her down for good. Healing was the most important part, all I could do as a DRK was basically engage and WS at 100% tp. Didn't seem like an overly difficult fight.
We just had a PLD/NIN aggro and kite them all, and the rest of us picked them off one at a time. Really easy.
The last fight we managed with only our SAM dying, but perhaps we were fortunate. We just had our DRG aggro both Shantotto; I'm not even sure who Belle Shantotto was attacking, but it wasn't either of us WHMs. Melee used 2hours once they raged, and they both went down okay. Only one Bene used. I guess we were lucky in some respects, but...well, we're all pretty good too.
WHM/SCH, WHM/BLM (thought I might have to bind), SAM/WAR, WAR/SAM, DRG/SAM, MNK/WAR.
After clearing for 5th times yesterday, this is what i've noticed from the fight.
Every 25% where the start cooperating, each Shanttoto enter their presumed "rage" mode (i just call it super mode) where they take less damage (like -75%, my GK hit normally from 80+ Gekko 1000+ to 30+ Gekko 300+ during the mode).
After around 10% i think the BLM able to enter mode more than once, try not to waste your WS when she is in this mode, you CAN use brute force to take her out just make sure you are doing max damage from WS when she ends the mode.
They will say something in dialog during this mode, and BLM will start spamming WS Slice Slice etcetc till Guillotine a few times to end the mode. While WHM start spamming tier1 magic and end with aga3 , 1-2 aga)
What i find that is helpful is when the mode occurs, if there is someone with solid hate on the BLM or WHM, STAY there and rest DD move away so they can avoid the aoe damage and whm able to focus on 1 person.
You could Stun them outside mode, during the mode don't bother i tried stunning them during mode but did not work.
Tried a few set up, the latest one is WAR/MNK RNG/SAM WHMx2 SCH SAM/NIN <-me.
We start by me aggroing 2 Shan and start kiting the whm in the arena, when the WHM start to help the BLM, i will go and try get hate and pull it off whm. It works for while, the whm cast AM2 on me after i do a Darkness SC then proceed going back to nuke the war (probably reach 50% tho).
Once at 50%, i join the war on killing the BLM. I switch to soboro (lol) to Hobaku the BLm, works pretty well till she enter the 25% mode and i change back to Hagun. Once at 25% i store tp when i see i'm doing less damage than usual (about 30 per hit rather than 80+) and only ws after she out of mode. Our whm pull hate when she's near 10% and i 2hour to kill her (she's out of the mode just in time).
After that it is the same with WHM, store tp when in mode and run out in case of aga and aoe. And proceed killing it slowly, no death 10min 45sec fight. Didn't use Icarus wing since it is not needed.
Side note: /NIN is useless unless you are kiting, RNG is good since they are outside the aoe range most the times. You can stun when Shan is outside the mode. It is better to run out of melee range when in mode (but it is up to you to judge). SAM can be good due to Seigan Third Eye during BLM spamming WS mode but not really needed. Diseased is really bad for the dd. 2WHM and probably one more mage are possibly needed if you go melee style.
Sidenote#2: Get 4 smn and this fight is a breeze. Avatar has 3x boost in all stats. Predator Claws did like 2500+ damage when they outside mode, and 1000+ during mode (as compared to 1000+Gekko outside mode, and 300+ during mode from SAM). Did the smn burn too and it was really easy, only 1 death due to RDM casting too many Curaga, pretty much BP the blm to death then the WHM. About 10min fight too.
Sorry for massive text of words, hope it helps those that is going to try this fight.
WAR/SAM RNG/SAM SAM/NIN BLU/NIN 2x WHM (same person 2boxed both)
6:40 - broke record. Pretty happy it went so smooth.
So, you can get the key items from Ro'maeve/Zi'tah again, but any idea what you do with them...?
We aren't really sure, I know a lot of people were expecting it to be pathetic (such as 10% more crit damage or 11 MAB instead of 10 MAB). It is definitely better than that. Again, I don't own BLM nor do I have the piece in question - so its up to him to do the testing. We just really haven't had a whole lot of time to do so.so your edit would make more sense, couldn't be MAB+20. Doesn't make sense with the "+10%" there.
For now, we are taking the occam's razor approach. This means that either:
A) No new formula was introduced in the BLM magic calculation, and Magic Crit Dmg X% just adds (X+10)/100 to MAB (10 being the base MAB bonus for crit; also, this is where the +10% could come from, as it would be an additional 10/100 MAB). or..
B) (unlikely) A new formula *was* introduced for MCrit when it first came out, and we assumed it was just MAB+10 base, when its not. Magic Crit Dmg would then modify that specific part of the damage formula.
From a programming perspective, it would just seem like you would be re-inventing the wheel if you were asked to create a MAB modifier, when instead you could just add straight MAB. But who knows, we *are* talking about SE.
So before I go and do this fight again, it seems I have heard multiple reports of Shanttoto using her rage mode more than once due to it not being "Over" when the party wipes.
Does anyone know how long her rage mode lasts?
I'm sorry is this was mentioned in the thread already, but not reading 20 pages to find out... but we took a 4th SMN to battle, and althogh he did NOT have A Shantotto Ascension, nor any of the hexes, he receieved ALL the buffs.
Ah I did not know this wasn't common knowledge? We brought in 2 people without ASA, and they both got the godly buffs. The only thing we surmised was that whoever starts it? Or those not on the mission get the buffs of those with the mission, that is if you don't have all tablets and have ASA you don't get all buffs. Yet if you don't have ASA, but the person who initiates the BCNM has all tablets, you get all buffs.
Whether this is true or not, no clue. Just what we assumed. (The four of us made sure to get all 16 tablets to make it as easy as possible)
