Question about re-questing the pants. Is it like MKDT where you have to drop the item first THEN wait for JP Midnight or is it like ACP where you only need to wait for JP midnight for another key and can drop the item anytime before the fight?

So having not really kept up on the strats for beating Shan/Domina Shan in the Sacrificial Chamber, I thought to throw out this strat to see if anyone could confirm or deny if it'd work. It's based on a strat over at other wiki but you know how the data there can be...
Anyways.
WHM WHM SAM DRG BRD SAM
-DD sub standard DD subs, BRD subs nin, WHM sub the usual + vile elixers etc.
DD go in, start fighting Shan while the BRD/NIN holds Domina. Eventually Shan will rage and the team up mode will start. Wipe on Shan (ive heard its impossible to win during rage yes?) thus wasting her rage and restart battle.
Upon restart, pull Shan again with BRD holding Domina while the DD drop Shantotto then working their way over to Domina which without her team up mode means an easy win.
Only questions ive got are:
-After beating Shan, will solo Domina enter a rage?
-Ive heard that 75, 50, 25 are percentages where a damage resistance goes up and weaponskills can be "wasted" since they'll be nerfed by the damage cut. Any truth to this?
-If someone is helping, they get the hexes of the people who need the mission right?
If the new NM dorps werent so bad id have had this finished by now Q.Q
Did this as 4x SMN 1 RDM/NIN (me).
2xSMN and me had all the hexes and when we entered the other 2 helpers (no expansion) had the hp and mp buff. Not sure if they had the other buffs as well but will verify soon.
I aggroed the 2 Shantotto and just blink tank the White Shantotto while the SMNs put Garuda on D. Shantotto and pull it back to the door and kept their distance and BPing when they could. Once the 2 Shantotto teamed up, SMNs just continued their usual BP while I tried to get hate back from the White Shanttoto which was almost impossible unless I dropped a Cure IV on some of the SMN then it would turn to me for maybe 3 seconds. Once D Shantotto died, SMNs just continued their BP attacks etc etc.
As what alot of people have already said, SMN setups makes this fight extremely easy.
We're doing this tonight. We have two options. Either WHM WHM BRD DD DD DD, or alternatively WHM SMN SMN BRD DD DD. Which would work better? I'm leaning towards the first option.
Can anyone confirm the AoE range in this fight? Looks like 20' but would like to know for sure.
Also, which taru do we whack first, White or Black? I've heard of it being done both ways but which would be preferable?
Everyone has 16/16 hexes and remedies, echos etc.
Thanks.
Well, I'll answer my own questions since we did this last night and went 1/1.
We used nin sam sam (amano) whm whm/sch brd/nin (me, kiter).
It seemed to go pretty decent, white shantotto seemed to go down faster than black but that may be because two fully-buffed sams went completely batshit crazy on her with 2hrs and tachi:kaiten. Also, kiting black shantotto was kind of tight since that arena is pretty small. Trying to keep hate on her as a brd was a pain and I'm not sure I really got it right but it was enough I guess.
What else? Oh yes, wiki says that helpers who have already done the fight (we had 3) need to get hexes again in order to get the key, but I think our guys found this was not the case. Can anyone confirm? At least one or two of ours had no hexes and I think they were fine to get key afterwards.
I liked this mini-expansion, I think it's up there with Zilart and ToAU although short of CoP. Much better than Wings, which I gave up on a long time ago as having too little content delivered too slowly. I had fun with the story in ASA and got a nice pair of pants and an aptus earring out of it. I might even get MKD now just to complete the set (already done ACP).
If you think that ASA final fight and story are great, then you need to pick Wotg back up. The bastok last fight and the latest windy story are enough to top what ASA offered. Wotg is great if you do all 3 nations quests, which is designed that way as they are really mission like. As of right now, nothing beats Wotg in term of story, that's how far it has gone in term of that expansion, and I am sure alot of ppl who have kept that up will agree with me.
Hmm, I might just do that. A couple of the new quests also seem to give nice rewards. Thanks.![]()
yea, they are awesome. I personally like the retrace staffs that you get after completing that latest nation quests, they are pretty neat. Many think that the windy line of quests is by far the best so if you have to pick one to do first, go with that one.
Psh, CoP > All for story
I agree that Wings, thus far, is the best storyline I've seen in this game. I've yet to complete Windy's and Bastok's storyline (On the last fight for San D Oria), but hopefully I'll find a static for both.
I beat the last fight Yesterday for the first time. I went to help again (after JP midnight) and was able to recollect the hexes, won the fight, and get the key item again. SO yes you can repeat this fight and get the key again.
I know bio works on Steely weapon, but does poison from disseverment work?
I've completed the bc mission and collected all the hexes to get the tonberry key again while helping some others, however on the first try we didn't win. All the hexes remained in key items which seemed kinda weird, but figured it was because had already completed the mission. We tried again once two hours were up and we won. But myself and the other person who had done it before (who was also redoing for the key and had all the hexes) did not get the key, also we still both have all the hexes in key items. Is there something we're missing? We both zoned in between fights. We both still have the behemoth key for the pants, but that shouldn't matter since its a separate mission from the one that rewards the tonberry key. Also we were both dead at the end of the bc which we won. Could these be the reasons? Anyone else run into this? I wouldn't think the jp midnight wait would matter because we lost the first try, also we still had all the hexes. I'm thinking its because we hadn't gotten the behemoth key reward yet, but that seems not right.
I remember back when I helped someone with Crystalline Prophecy, I had the key for my body piece sitting in my key items because I hadn't decided what to get yet. The end result was that I was unable to collect the reward key from the Seed Crystal event. Although Shantotto breaks away from the pattern by awarding a Behemoth Key elsewhere, I wouldn't be surprised if the code is still sketchy and won't let you collect another reward key until you've chosen your pants.
If you've chosen your pants already, and you redo the hexes/fight 24 hours after the first time choosing the pants, you can toss the pants anytime before you enter the BC to redo the augments.
I had chosen some augments that I later wanted to change, so about 2 weeks or so after first completing the missions, I went again. Collected all 16 hexes, then while waiting behind the wooden drawgate for the others (outside the zone to the Sacrificial Chamber) I tossed the pants. Did the fight, got both keys right after the fight. So if you're re-acquiring the pants, you don't have to go back to WinWalls to get the key, it gives it to you right after the fight (like how it is done for ACP/MKT).
We boomeranged it to death with a NIN with capped Throwing skill, with help from a 62 RNG and a 62 THF that happened to be in the zone. Unconventional but it did work. Using the NIN alone was too slow and it kept depopping on us at 20%. The RNG and THF were doing FoV at the zoneline so we enlisted them.
I saw a well-geared JP RDM try to kill it with DoT and a bow and arrow, but it kept depopping on him. I'd round up some friends or others on the quest to speed things up a bit.
I tested it and disseverment did not work. I don't know if there was a patch in between, but one SCH I did not have problems keeping the NM from depopping within during an extended battle using Bio II + Bind + Gravity + Other stuff. Using SCH almost worked until I got aggro from two other weapons and a doll (Carelessness on my behalf). I got the NM to about 50% before I zoned. I joined another group later on who killed it a few times with THF+Bow then THF+RNG.
Edit: Still on last fight, but hopefully I'll finish that over the break when I have more time.
