FFXI New NMs 11/9/09

Can someone check this for me? Just noticed that there only 3 birds up after I killed the NM. Was 4 while I was killing all the Diatrymas, including those towards Sacrarium and under the bridge. The NM also popped south of the river (south of the bridge), so it could just be straight lotto from one of the birds south of the bridge being its PH. This needs verification, but I'll start camping this NM also 'til I get a drop -.-;

Thats the same place it popped for me too, just have to find which ones are the PH now.

Safe to assume that the PH is somewhere south of the bridge? Three of us popped it, and it popped in the same location.

I am just speculating, but it could be something like this: The mob had hate on one of the DD's, that DD was moved to the top of the hate list because your tank lost hate from damage or death or whatever, it then wanted to go after the DD, but it was out of range. Without a target in range it lost hate, and without hate for that moment it despawned. A normal mob would just go after the DD or it would just stand there unclaimed, this one just has different behavior after going unclaimed.

No if the target was out of range and it lost aggro on the target they are removed from the hate list then it targets the next person on the hate list, a mob will never go unclaimed having lost all aggro until its hate list is empty, and that will never happen when you have a lot of people.

Tough to say, I've been destroying all the birds south of the bridge with nothing.

If it pops, I'm gonna let it chill unclaimed and see which bird doesnt repop.

I'll wait an hour before going up there. I'll try killing only south birds for an hour. If it doesn't pop, I'll go back to butchering all the birds in the vicinity. Could be that by chance the PH shuffles pop points North and South, and these pops were pure coincidence.

More on Donnergugi: it's a beetle, very likely a lotto spawn off of the expables near the zone. I was killing dhamels because I swore that's what people said it is, but went afk and came back to found a WHM PLing a party had taken it down. "Its tough enough to hurt a 75 whm" was all I got. Only 6k gil dropped.

Gonna hang out to see if I can find a respawn window.

Finally. 1/8 I think. So I guess this is official confirmation, since I've yet to see anyone post a screenshot of it...

EDIT: If anyone has any possible clue of what could drop Wilhelm's Earring, I'm all ears.

Okyupete up right now where I am... fighting.

Was single lightning and 1st Dya was already dead.

No drop.

Edit: Also, just incase ppl are thinking it's maybe timed with thunder weather requisite. Lightning changed to wind weather before I claimed and was still up.

I found a Chigoe NM in Wajaom Woodlands named Chelicerata. Spawns at K-9 and can wander around J-9

I got dropped in 3 hits by the NM as 75 SMN. Wasn't sure what to expect, should have known I would get jacked up.

Here's screenshot. Wasn't able to get one of the NM with it's name over it, was running for my life. But you can see how hard this NM hit me.

Very nice. 1/8 with TH4...I'm going on 0/8 with TH1 so...think it's time to give this up until I get my alt's THF to 45 at least, lol...

It's possible that Okyupete drops the other one, though I kinda doubt it. Would be nice though.

Edit: 8th times a charm apparently...or maybe it's Firesday + Thunder weather drop! Dun dun dunnnnnn. Now for the other one...

granted its only 3/8...hints to fixed repop mobs.

Was able to find the cluster NM's dead body in Lufaise Meadows, so thats my next target. Assuming it pops similar to the Bravo's Subligar NM during mists. Lets see what happens.

Which new NMs gives this message on the screen and instant-despawns if you wipe to it?
"The monster fades before your eyes, a look of disappointment on its face."

So far, from what Ive been able to find, Scylla and Zirnitra gives this message, but are there more?

And what (if any) could these possibly have in common with each other?

- Also did you know that at least some FoV NMs gives the exact same msg, when they despawn? (idk if all do, but I know some do).

Its the new Fomor NMs in the past..I got destroyed by Lugh yesterday and i got the message


BTW: Dont know if its been updated or posted but Lugh is True sound (i was behind her and got agro) she has heat breath and she draws in EVERYONE in your alliance that is in the zone. So make sure everyone is ready before you get too close to it.

Since those earrings go by pair, maybe if one is discovered dropping from a certain type of mob, we could guess the other ear "should" maybe drop from another new NM from SAME FAMILY ?

ie if Altdorf ear drop from goaftrap (proven) and he is a Flytrap type, then question would be:
Is there other flytrap type NMs with unknown drops so far ?

Nice theory, but no. Hyakinthos is a Mandragora, and Dynast Beetle is well, a beetle.

Same difficulty, definitely.

EDIT: Nevermind, I actually don't know, considering I got confused with the pairing of the items between Hyakinthos and Dynast Beetle. Going by this theory, there are 2 other "trap" NMs, Lizardtrap and Goblintrap. Definitely going after these two next. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
