FFXI New NMs 11/9/09

god lol. All you people complaining about drop rates. Try being a thief pre "Thief Knife Patch". 1 in 10 drop rate isn't that bad. I'll agree 1 in 30's kinda ass-tastic, but nothing compared to Thief Knife, Strider Boots, O.Kote, Speed Belt, swift belt, etc... etc... etc...

only "bad" drop rate i see there is O.kote, fk that NM...

the only people who go past 0/10 on Swift belt are the ones who go "Oh, who needs a THF?"

also it helps to bitch about things, no need keeping your emotions bottled up >.<, drop rates are unreasonably bad for most of us... especially considering some of the NMs introduced yet to have a confirmed drops

1/12 for me, with THF for every kill.

But no, it's definitely not that bad of a droprate on average. FFXIclopedia's data puts it at somewhere around the 1/3 range.

o/2 on Barbaric Weapon. I think its the lottery of the 1 weapon @ G-8. Everytime i walk over to check i see 2 people standing on the spine. Still no SS confirmation if Rover's Gloves even drops from this NM. Mostly JP hunt this thing. Hmmmm......

Don't think it's been popped, but I spent 4 hours right outside of the vunkerl zone killing every orc with no pop yesterday.

Hmm. In the mob list for Jugner (S), Drumskull is definitely grouped with those 2 batches of Orcs as you come out of the southernmost Vunkerl exit. Since we've had multiple people killing those for a while with no pop, I'm beginning to wonder if it's acting like Vasiliceratops... and it's going to pop somewhere seemingly unrelated to where it is on the mob list. (If I'm wrong about this on Vasiliceratops someone please correct me.)

Going to be busy with classes/events tonight but if I get a chance I'll take a chocobo all around Jugner (S) and see if i can find any lone Orcs or other suspicious-looking groupings. At this point I'd be happy just to see it pop... getting ridiculous.

That F'ing O.Kote NM can feast on my short & curlies... It's the only NM in this game (recent update excluded) to have never dropped for me.... Took Jaggedy-Eared Jack 96 times before he dropped(Hasn't dropped since either in 158 total kills) but he did at least finally put out.

But you're right, most of the guys I see complaining (in general) are like those RDM/NIN's that go solo everything, say TH is a myth, tout how much better they are at soloing than a thief, scream and shout about how TH does nothing (or even better come up with some really unfounded theory on how it doesn't work) then call "luck" when a thief goes in and gets the drop in under 4 kills....

yea seriously fuck okote. killed that damn nm over 200 times over the years. finally got the kote recently. nm pisses me off so much.

Im using TH3 and i havent solo killed any of these NM's always in duo or trio PT's with mules and what not. Yea i went 1/92 on okotes, by the time i got them i didnt even need them anymore lol.

Vasiliceratops isn't really randomly placed in the dats, the Wivre that's its PH is 2 mobs above it.

Buarainech Is one of the worst NM ever to fight. After getting my ass handed to me!

I kept the Orange for just being the most awesome color. But that NM is a joke. I don't see how people have issues with him. Just have an assortment of damage types and rock him. Everyone who can /nin and no issues.

1. How much HP would you estimate it has?
2. How often does it lose hate by kiting?

I joined in when it was at 20%, it was reaming a RDM and NIN, (both JP, didn't know them or their skill)

it took 4 AM2 to finish it off with the nin on it.
2 of the AM from a gimp blm, 2 from a decent blm. it still had shell up

1) from that i would speculate if HP = (800*2 + 650*2)*5 ~ 14500 HP
I know my nukes werent hitting for anywhere near full dmg so its a very rough approximate. gave 50 or so limit to 4 people though.

EDIT: 2)They never lost hate while kitting around a spine, but they were getting hit alot even with kite path...

I had no problem kiting blm/rdm for the two nukes i got off. AM2 hit, took hate, kited around spine till was on opposite side and started next nuke. (hit me but never broke SS before land).

if you have movement speed i'd vouch you could do it easily.
