FFXI New NMs 11/9/09

Info on Wiki is way off from my experience with Chonchon over the last couple days.

so far 2/4 with TH1 on his belt. I have seen him pop high on the hill and low in the valley, and every time has been at either 60min, 70min, 80min, or 90min of ToD on the dot. Treat it like you would Fafnir, but once window opens 60min after last kill, he has 10min windows rather then 30min. Every kill it has poped on that 10min mark to the second.

PUP AF2 cape gives +15 pet attack, so doubt it. Unless it's whiffing like crazy I guess, but +2 is pretty marginal.

You say that like relic capes are easy to get. I've got one, but that was complete luck.

PUP's best options besides +15 Attack/Pet attack is an Attack+6 bellicose mantle, or maybe the new Pet: Store TP+3 mantle (I haven't run any numbers, I'm unsure if it'd change your pet's hit build.) In this case Pet Melee+2 is pretty good, especially in situations where Valoredge is meleeing and you yourself are not. It probably still isn't worth it if you're meleeing though, but Melee skill +2 vs. Attack+6 is a lot harder than Melee skill+2 vs. Attack+15/Pet:Attack+15.

Something something shit is situational. This back piece is only good in a situation where the master isn't meleeing too. 2 skill is a marginal difference to acc and atk for any of the frames and even the 6 attack from bellicose will probably beat out 2 melee skill for the puppet in the long run.

Bellicose is better, people (this includes SE) don't realise how shittastic damage the puppet does compared to the master. I wish master<=puppet damage wise, I would then be on par with a BB full usu monk ... I got full usu, Hades Sainti +1, I can eat sushi or meat, I get haste, double march, rolls, sambas, enspells, protect shell etc, my puppet doesn't ; I do 2x the damage of my pet, so 6 attack will benefit more than 2 acc / att on the puppet.

Just solo'd Gloom Eye on Smn... Pretty easy fight, used Fenrir cuz more HP n shit and just kited back and forth of the room he spawns in. Took 19 Fenrirs to take it down, Eyes on Me is like an insta-kill, more-or-less... Took 20 minutes, no drop :<

Just took a long run around Jugner (S) by chocobo. I can confirm that Drumskull's not popping off in some wierd corner of the zone by some weather condition. My best guess is still those two batches by the southernmost Vunkerl exit. Going to see if I can round up a few people to come slaughter all of them sometime in the next few days to see if we can make this thing pop...
