    Another headphone topic

I purchased these HD212's about 4 years ago. They gave out over the summer, and since then I've just been using the apple earbuds that came with my itouch. But now the right earbud has gone out on those. So on the market again

When I bought my HD212's, they were on sale for 40 dollars. I'd say around 50 dollars ir around what I want to spend again. I know to get a very good pair cost several hundred dollars, but I was happy enough with the HD212's.

Going through Newegg's top sellers, it seems these Sennhesier HD 280 Pro are crazy popular, just not sure about throwing down 100 dollars. Was hoping to find a sale but haven't found anything through google so far.

So yeah, any help is a thanks

I've used the HD280s and they were really nice, especially considering the price. For a decent pair of cans you probably won't find a better deal for the price you're looking for. As for sub 100$ I can't say I'm particularly aware of any of the headphones that exist in that range, considering most are either offbrand knockoffs or something like Skull Candy which seems to me that you're paying more for the design and look than the actual sound and headphone quality.

But I can definitely say that the HD280s are worth your money if you don't mind chipping in a few extra bucks, and they should definitely last you a long while as long as you take care of them.

Edit: for 50$ or around there, you could probably manage to find a pretty alright pair of earbuds (as long as you don't mind earbuds, some people don't like having them in their ears as they get uncomfortable after a while).

I had the HD280Pros, they were ok, but after switching to Audio Technica ATH-AD700's those HD280s just seemed to pale in comparison. These are a little cheaper than the HD280s too, only $85.

For suggestions under $50, the JVC HARX-700s are said to be pretty good and they're pretty damn cheap at $34.

Was digging the ATH-AD700's but then saw they were open air. Not too sure about getting an open air headset

For the JVC, I actually saw those on new egg before for 54 dollars and was thinking about them. The fact they're just 34 dollars on amazon is crazy (seems amazon is consistently cheaper than newegg on headphones) and makes me all the more interested.

I'd rather spend 50-75 dollars then 25-50 dollars, but at the same time if I only have to pay 34 dollars to get a pair that's on par with one that costs 65 dollars, hey, awesome.

I got a pair of HD280s back in college when I wanted a good set of cans that wouldn't keep my roommate awake at night if I was up late, and would be good for traveling.

The HD280s were great for both those needs. They naturally have some of the drawbacks of closed-ear designs, but come with the upsides of not forcing everyone around to listen to whatever you are as well, and doing a great job of passive acoustic isolation, which is great for things like plane rides or being a passenger on long car rides.

They're just now starting to feel their age (they're close to 6 years old now), and the vinyl on the earpads is starting to break down. Still sound great though.

The ATH-A700 are pretty much the same as the AD700, only they're closed.

Thanks a lot. They're also more expensive (115 on amazon), but that's still far from horrible. If I decide to go up to 100, I'll probably grab those instead of the HD280s.

Now to decide once paycheck comes if I wanna spend 35 on the JVC or 115 on the ATH-A700's

    Thanks guys

Technics DH1200s are pretty good for their price, too.

    headphone.com/selection-guide/

I've been using this site for years and they always have great reviews for some of the best headphones. They have quite a few different headphone selection guides based on price/type/application which makes it easy to narrow down your choices. Might want to give the lists a look if you havn't made up your mind for sure yet.

*hmm needed 10 posts to post a url.... I'm sure you get the idea at least for the link.

those were definitely a nice pair, even the SR-60s weren't too bad, but definitely go for the SR-80s if you are choosing between the two.
