these distance gauges everyone is stating is for dmg right? Racc still remains closer = more accurate?

Actually the bloody bolt thing has been around a while. I duo'd with a DNC friend as THF 30-37 spamming bloody bolts on mandies in the jungles. They were doing ridiculous damage and we were making at least 9-10k an hour.

Here we go, starting with the 3 non-relics people are most likely to use (not counting SBow, since I don't have it):

All shots were against a Fortification, which has no model size, so these are the smallest these numbers should ever be. Naturally, they're going to be pushed back when you're shooting something bigger.

Next up: Not being a retard and grabbing the other weapons I wanted to compare.

    Hellfire +1:
    3.8 - Hits
    3.9 - Hits squarely
    4.6 - Hits squarely
    4.7 - Strikes true
    5.8 - Strikes true
    5.9 - Hits squarely
    8.2 - Hits squarely
    8.3 - Hits

    EBow:
    6.3 - Hits
    6.4 - Hits squarely
    7.5 - Hits squarely
    7.6 - Strikes true
    10.8 - Strikes true
    10.9 - Hits squarely
    15.8 - Hits squarely
    15.9 - Hits

    OBow:
    5.3 - Hits
    5.4 - Hits squarely
    6.6 - Hits squarely
    6.7 - Strikes true
    9.7 - Strikes true
    9.8 - Hits squarely
    13.0 - Hits squarely
    13.1 - Hits

Edit: Just to add my thoughts to the numbers. EBow and OBow both have hueg liek xbox sweet spots, which is great. Looks like in most situations EBow and OBow both keep max damage out past 10.0 yalms, which is very useful. Ebow's "better" range is the widest, which is not surprising, if I'm honest.

Bloody bolts have always hit well on monsters at that level, especially if you're rockin a little INT (aw yeah tarus!)

Goblin Butchers are not great chain extenders though. Bloody bolts don't proc well on them at all >:/, but they're killable once they're closer to EM/low T. But yeah, I went THF/RNG and soloed 25 to 37 with about 2 stacks of Bloody bolt bags using no food. It got comparable xp/hr to parties of that level (not counting astral flow parties), I could log out whenever I wanted, and I got all the seals.

I noticed the rng stuff when I was on my COR last night, so looks like it was just an overall ranged attack patch for the messages.

Haven't tried it with THF yet.

    Lightning Bow:
    4.4 - Hits
    4.5 - Hits squarely
    5.5 - Hits squarely
    5.6 - Strikes true
    7.7 - Strikes true

    11.1 - Hits

Definitely a difference in range and sweetspot between a shortbow and a longbow.

Shark Gun and Musketeer Gun had the same numbers as Hellfire +1, Zamburak +1 had the same numbers as OBow.

My gut feeling is only major differences in weapons of the same type (e.g. shortbow and longbow) are likely to change sweetspots. Would be nice to have a COR test a hexagun or two.

If no one gets to it before I get home, I'll go out with my friend and have him test hexaguns.

Can someone test optimal throwing distances too?

Same point as testing a shortbow or a hexagun: completing the dataset.

don't forget to use Chakrams and Boomerangs in addition to shuriken, grenades and random other throwable things.

I was trying to be funny, doesn't really translate through text.

I planned on testing throwing anyway, I'm pretty anal-retentive about that stuff, just miserable because it has no practical application.

RACC penalty has never been verified, but it has generally been presumed (based on update notes and other Squenix statements) that RACC penalties match RATK penalties.

It might "make sense" that RACC would be highest at point blank range, but it would also make sense that a gun would deal full damage at point-blank range and that a rifle should be able to shoot from farther than a bow. So I wouldn't expound too much thought on why things work the way that they do.

Ran out of bullets, but this is what I got on Colibri outside of Whitegate for Quicksilver (Hexagun)

    0-3.5 Hit

    3.6-4.2 Square

    4.3-5.4 Best

    5.5+ Square

Ran out of bullets at 6.0 and it was a crit so it didn't tell me, but that's what I got before I had to get offline.

Does the enmity- and Camouflage staying in effect work when /RNG?

We should probably limit testing to Fortifications, just so the numbers all mean the same thing.

Can someone provide the max distance for meleeing and for offensive JAs (e.g. Shadowbind) against a Fortification? I want to reconcile these numbers with the distance numbers that are already known (but have generally been compiled against non-fort targets).
