GM Jailed for "Prohibited Activities"

call a GM and they will most likely start asking him questions about his ISP. they will say he is fine and the autojailer snagged him up because his connection was lagging and it flagged him as position hacking (which i hope he isnt stupid enough to do these days).

Yep, had this happen, too. I was killing puddings for a few hours on MountZ with a 2nd account leeching. The 2nd account ended up in jail, despite being idle the whole time it was up there. It did not surprise me that the GM was asking about my ISP because I had heard of similar false positives and I was lagging pretty bad that day.

The people talking about lag replicating pos hacking are correct, but it's not likely this is what happened to your friend. Position is stored client side, so if you r0 while running it's as if you stood still until your connection came back then instantly warped to where you ran to(you won't even get aggro otw if you manually pull out ethernet or something). The person in question was afk widescanning all night, so most likely not moving at all.. and the auto-jailer is rather fast when those things happen.

My question: @Neoex: Was the person you know of jailed since yesterday's patch for widescanning? Do you know of any other instances that are similar?

That was me, on a mule(no this was 2 monthes ago). And just like the OP, I was not moving, I hadbeen standing still in the zone scanning for 3 days and on the 4th day, I woke up and was in jail.

I am starting to think this widescan application is SOMEHOW detectable and triggering FFXI's Autojailer, however it appears the GMs think its some sort of bug LOL

Because I dual box from this computer, and while it son a wireless connection, I run around 100x more on the other char and its never been jailed for this, and this char standing still hasbeen jailed twice, both times while scanning for SW/DI, since I have stopped scanning I have stop being jailed.

one of our LS leaders, who plays on the 360, got a temp suspension 48hrs because.

A) Our LS was outclaiming another LS on Aura Statues down at Ulli pop

B) We didnt respond to their harrassment

C) We use vent so we rarely talking in LS chat

So what the GM came to the conclusion that this member was botting on their 360 (Yes, they even told her that they saw she was using a 360) and because we werent talking in LS/Party chat and on Vent and that we didnt respond to their harrassment, they determined she was a bot.


That made me LOL so hard, i felt so bad for her though cause she did get a strike on her account for this.

Morale of the story, USE LS/PARTY CHAT EVEN IF YOU HAVE VENT.

It was an auto-jailer ban. From this, it's not very likely it's anything to do with his scanning.. that would require someone manually investigating to see that he isn't afk unless they added a new protocol to the auto-jailer to pop up messages to people scanning. Could have been added in yesterday's patch if so.

Depends, if he's using something like app's feature for sw/di where he would be able to announce the pop <pos> etc he could be sending packets out constantly and it picked up on it.

I've been auto jailed for lagging, the GM wouldn't talk to me though and just sent me out. Wireless internet ftl.

I'm not denying that it could be picked up on, just that it's not a current known feature of the auto-jailer. It's more likely something to do with connection and multiboxing going by other reports, if they ninjaed a check for widescan into it I'm sure more than one bot would've been caught since yesterday.

Which were you using Neoex / OP's friend? The widescan bot I imagine is pretty detectable if you keep it running for days at a time. I've left scan zone (dead body one) running for like a week before np.

If you're going to cheat and then you get jailed I don't see why you'd go around asking why this happened. Anyone stupid enough to afk for extended periods of time with any kind of bot running deserves whatever they get. And no, this isn't an "omg botting is bad" post it's an "omg you're an idiot" post.

Scanzone, detects the dead body moving is what i was using. NOT the one spamming the widescan menu

my mule also got auto-jailed few weeks ago. Had him sitting at Khim for about 12hrs before I decided to call it a night (I was active during 4-5 of the windows). Since it was a bit crowded out there I ran the character up against the wall went 1st person facing the wall then went on away status. According to my logger I was jailed about 2hours later.
Forgot to SS the convo but did ask me what type of connection I used, then about a 2min pause from the GM and he just said sorry for the mix-up and let me go.

I got autojailed like 3 weeks ago, it was after a Khim pop, cuz all that cast spelling on the mob causes my PC to lag while i was walking to a safe spot the BAM got autojailed, was in jail like 30mins and did a GM call even the msg said they was not recieving by that account

The GM told me i got in jail because they detected irregular movement on my chara but after they did a investigation they determined it was a mistake, and they asked info of my PC, it the game was running smoth and stuff like that then they just sent me to HP.

Ill post Screenshots of that when i get home, im at school atm.

Damn, wish I hadn't of gotten auto jailed for lag otw to khim right after the auto jailer came out.. GM Werex just was a dick to me and told me their system was correct and when I tried to talk to him he hp'd me lol. -.-

Guilty and banned until you beg enough to be investigated to be innocent?

Is he on trial? I equate it more to an arrest. If the STF judges that they have probable cause then they jail the individual till he's "adjudicated." He's not exactly found guilty just because he's in GM jail.

My wireless switch is on the front of my laptop and I accidentally hit it all the fucking time, I'm surprised I haven't got banned yet 'cause I usually reestablish my connection to the FFXI server without a disconnect.

lol'd, did you even bother reading other parts of the thread? Auto-jail feature activates on the simplest mistakes, more than likely error on SE's part.
