My answer is somewhere in between.

Parents are still married and always have been, but when I was like 15 my mom got a job offer too good to pass up, so she lived in Florida and came back to Kansas generally 3 days a week. Dad moved down there not long after I moved out, when his company got sold for the 50 billionth time and the newest one didn't need him.


The really cool part is the state is trying to build a highway that will go right through our house in Kansas, so we can't sell it, and someone has to take care of it, so I have a free 4 bedroom house for a couple years lol.

My parents are still married with 2 kids. My brother is married to a drug addicted bitch that has 4 kids from a previous marriage, and he refuses to divorce her.

I've been married for 7 years with 1 kid and have no desire to divorce.

As for extended families, there has only been one divorce on my side, with the reason being my uncle coming out of the closet. He and my aunt still get along great though, and she is remarried to a great guy, so it worked out good for everyone.

Practically everyone on my wifes side has been divorced at least once, with the lone exception being her cousin who has been married less than a year. Her real father had 5 kids from 3 different mothers, and her mother had 3 kids from 2 different fathers, so her immediate family is pretty big.

the only martial problem in my family was with my aunt who divorced her first husband but has been with my uncle for 15ish years now and still going strong, and my other uncle never married. my grandparents and their parents never had any problem with divorce or etc. again, different times.

Parents Divorced for 8 or so years now, after 6 kids and 20+ years of marriage. My dad used to be a heavy drinker, so my mom started cheating on him. He threw her out, then they got the divorced settled and she got custody + house so he moved out. After I turned 18(youngest) he moved back in and they tried to make it work again since he stopped drinking, didn't work, mom packed her shit and left again. Currently living with my father.

My parents divorced when I was 7 because my mom got knocked up with my now step dads son. Her and my step dad are still together. My dad moved to Washington and remarried about 8 years ago.
My husbands dad died when he was 2 and his mom flitted here and there but is finally getting remarried this summer.
Divorce has a high rate in my moms side but my dads side he is the only one of 4 siblings that divorced.
I married had kids super young so divorce is probably gonna happen but for how we are happy and its working. Two daughters to think of.

Only people I remotely care about in my family that are married is my grandmother's sister. Nobody I know on both sides of my family are married. As to be expected, their kids are enjoying success due the amount of support (financial, emotional) they got whereas the rest of us have had a pretty hard time finding a direction in life to go in for the most part.

Option 2 for me, parents divorced when I was 18 months, my father was abusive. Mom later on remarried at 3 or so. She then left my step dad at 15, and my step dad is basically my dad, I have nothing to do with my biological father. I have two sisters, both married with children.

there's only like 1 instance of divorce that I even know about in my family history, great uncle on my mom's side. other than that, my mom/dad are together, all my uncles are still married to their first wives, same with grandparents (though my dad's mom died this past weekend).

It's funny, when I got married 2 years ago the minister said we were the first couple he'd married (in 5 years of being a minister) who's parents were still married to each other. I was looking at invitations and reading the proper etiquette for including remarried parents, step-parents, etc. I remember the longest one was 26 lines long to include everything the "proper" way, and I just laughed because it looked absurd. But then I sobered pretty quick as I realized that actually fits way too many people.

Option 1, typical atomic family. Sometimes a little stress between the parents, but they work it out. Grandparents still married. Three aunts still married. Three cousins married. 0 Divorces.

On the other hand, I've been dating the same girl for four years and marriage has never come up. Her parents are married, atomic family too, etc. As an institution, marriage is just not as necessary as it was back when being alone out on the prairie meant death. Now I just see it as a way to formally take yourself off the market. Life is certainly a lot simpler when you aren't hunting for chicks.

Bastard here, biological father left my mother not long after I was born because she was insisting on a paternity test (I am pretty sure she was sleeping around though... who knows). She's been married to my stepfather for something like 27 years though.

My Real Father was a basted drunk who liked to use his fists so that relationship ended, Then my step Father was a lazy prick. And currently my mothers partner is my age and so far its going good lol.

My parents have been married 42 years. I wouldn't say it's a dead marriage, but there is definitely no passion in it, and hasn't had any since I was a very little kid. Outside of family vacations, I can probably count the times they've slept in the same bed on both hands.

My dad's parents divorced, with his dad remarrying twice and his mom never remarrying. His family was a pretty well broken home, with the older kids being put into an orphanage, while the younger two lived with their mom for a few years. Not the kind of family you'd picture when thinking of a family from the late 30's or early 40's.

My mom's dad died when she was a teenager, and her mom remarried....my dad's uncle >.>

My brother is on his second marriage and my sister is on her 3rd marriage.

Parents married a couple years after Highschool, got divorced when I was 6 (My dad used to be a helicopter pilot for an oil company in the gulf, so he was gone for 3 months, home for 3 weeks - good money for no college education but my mom got tired of it eventually).

She remarried a coworker and they have been married since (18 years).

My dad remarried but his new wife hid from him she was a narcoleptic (from working graveyard shift as a nurse for many years I suppose) but he toughed it out for maybe 10 years - I hated staying over there because of her though.

He got remarried again a couple years ago, seems to be happy - runs an antique store with his wife and they have custody of his stepsons kid, who also happens to work on an oil rig (yeah it's Lousiana, a lot of non college-bound kids get jobs on oil rigs).

My parents get a long fine, and I see all my family from both sides during holidays.
