I don't understand. Why are black people ashamed of the fact blacks were slaves in America at one point? Jews aren't ashamed of the Holocaust. Angry, upset, sad, but not ashamed. Should be proud of survival and escape, not ashamed you were stuck in that position at some point.

Of course, I'm not black so I can probably not understand properly.

Some Jews are also ashamed of the Holocaust, particularly when the idea pops up that Jews were so weak that they couldn't fight back and just let themselves get slaughtered (even though they did fight back in many instances, just not always directly). It particularly plays into current subjectivity of some Jews, particularly in Israel, where they feel that they have to show their enemies how tough they are and how they won't let another Holocaust happen to them again, this tends to mean that they will exaggerate aggresion.

There, i believe, also exists some stereotype about how Jews can't be tough or something.
