You can use a program called changetex to modify certain parts of the UI.
Darkdoom is using the UI i made (by "made" i mean i stole parts of several different UIs and put them together), which is at Download 51.DAT (i've since changed the arrows, but i can upload the .dds for the ones darkdoom is using in that ss if you want (or you can find it in this .dat, just don't use that .dat, because it won't work properly with the most recent update)).

wow soooo much hate! lol I have a 22" monitor so it doesn't bother me but I could see the point, though this was a pretty funny thread
question though, ive temporarily used the ffstyle thing that auto loads and replaces everything for you, and changed my se for the tab, and my menu background to the ones with FFI characters, but it didn't change the fonts. Did I fuck up? Im pretty bad with computers, so wouldn't be suprised if I did.
Suggestions?
nm I think ive got it all fixed, though I still kinda wish I could get that comic font, was fun for a while

The file you need to change for it is rom\119\51.dat

If you think Comic Sans is ugly, check out a couple i made back in 2006. Sadly i don't have the actual .dat files anymore.

The problem with Comic Sans is not that it has ever really been considered ugly. It's that it is used promiscuously and inappropriately. It was designed as a bloody comic book font and, even then, we're talking about rather light-toned comics. However, let some ditz with a word processor make a sign and for some reason they always reach for Comic Sans, so you walk into your doctor's office and see a serious notification about your insurance posted in an utterly absurd font that is totally inappropriate. Plus, it really doesn't flow well compared to more formal fonts. It's good for short 1960s Batman TV sound effects, not for several paragraphs on the fall of the Berlin Wall or the damage log of a video game.
Seriously, I'd sooner use Monotype Corsiva than Comic Sans for playing FFXI. At least it matches the style of the game more closely.

Comic sans is overused to death - and for completely inappropriate things too. Schools use it a lot inevitably (it's a free font that has the proper letter a that resembles how kids are taught to handwrite it - so it gets used a lot for the earlier years in school when you don't have access to paid fonts like sassoon), but when they're sending you letters about jobs, or official meeting minutes - all typed in comic sans it always strikes me as the equivalent of the really unfunny guy at work who thinks he's being all wild and zany because he's wearing a novelty tie and socks.
Someone mentioned this on a teaching forum and world war 3 almost broke out!

Hi Siljin, I agree with you as I like the comic sans fonts too, however the fonts from the comic sans .dat have not
enough pixel to look like solid colour, example the "I" will look dark and dim with not enough pixel, so I repainted
the whole comics sans font to look MORE WHITE and solid with more pixel. I also kept the original user status icon
(bazaar and looking for party icon), edited the pointers to old FFXI white hand, and menu colour to a grayer blue.
slim bezel equipment button. In short this should replace your original 51.dat with a comic sans font and still look
original except menu colour.
Only for US version copy into ROM>119>51.dat
Updated for 9 Nov 2009 Updates.
Attachment include the 51.dat and a screenshot for preview.
