There was a thread last year or the year before about this, but after a bit of searching I couldn't find it. Regardless, with the holidays fast approaching, please post all the charities that you're involved in or have donated to in this thread.
With the way the economy has been, perhaps now more than ever people out there need help from those of us who are well off. Even if you live paycheck to paycheck, chances are you can afford to give $25 to a charity or buy a few cans of soup to donate to a food drive. Please consider helping someone out this holiday season.
A few charities to get things started:
Child's Play is a charity organized by the creators of Penny Arcade that provides video game systems and games to children in hospitals who are terminally ill or very sick. As many of us are gamers I think this a is a great charity to donate to.
Breast Cancer Research Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to finding a cure for breast cancer. I'm sure almost every one of us knows a woman who has survived or died from breast cancer, the sooner we can find a cure the better.
Joe Torre's Safe at Home Foundation is dedicated to ending domestic violence and providing "safe homes" for verbally or physically abused children.
If all else fails head down to your local grocery store or school, they always have food drives which are much needed this time of year. Spend a few bucks and drop in some food.
