I introduced 2 kittens to my very spoilt and princessy tripod cat - keep them in separate rooms for a while, or use the cat carrier trick etc to get them used to each others smell - expect a lot of hissing, tails standing out like toilet brushes and a few swatted paws around the ears - but generally once that little storm's over they'll get on OK (until the kittens decide that the adult's swooshy tail is a great cat toy and then they'll get a paw around the ear as a general rule).

In my cat's case - she looked them up and down, hissed a bit, and then walked up to the meek and quiet one (the other's a right psycho case), and plonked her stump down on his back and used him as a leg rest! Quiet kitten and tripod got on really well - he'd "suckle" on the fur on her neck and they'd curl up together - she never got on as well with psycho kitten - but he hated everyone and was a nutcase (he's so nuts he hurls himself from a wall onto a first floor window ledge - and regularly misses and you see cats falling past the ground floor window if you're stood in the right room of the house).

The kittens now live with my mother as when I moved I was only allowed to have one cat in my new flat.

Currently having a lot of fun with the glass patio doors here - it's a very cat-heavy neighbourhood and we've got a couple of really curious ones who come into our back garden, right up to the door to see what those funny humans are up to - and it drives the tripod ballistic - she hisses, spits, tries to jump at them - they try to jump back so you end up with 2 cats just hurling themselves at a glass window for 10 minutes.

All I can say is, my sister got a kitten within the last couple of weeks (after whining she has no pets she can call her own, even though already has two fucking horses), and my cat hates the snot out of it.

I forgot how energetic and ADD the little buggers are though. Damn thing wandered into my room once and just ran all about the place. Guess it got tired of being cooped up in my sister's bedroom for literally 10 days.

We have three cats. Our last one was a feral kitten and was still getting used to being indoors. We put him up in the spare bedroom for about the first two weeks we had him. We didn't let him roam around the house at all. I put a towel under his food dish and then took the towel and put it under our other cat's dish. This way it got them a little more used to his scent. After two weeks or so we would let him out of the room during the day and put him back in at night. We never had any problems at all with our cats accepting his presence. He now has the run of the house and destroys anything within reach.

I guess no 2nd cat for me then.
Not so. Cats can get along, even make friends- I had two myself at one point.

Scent is important. The blanket trick works- get the younger cat used to the older cat's smell in a comfortable place and he/she won't get scared shitless when they actually meet. Then the whole thing with a baby gate, so they can see/smell each other and get used to that much. Finally, let em run around in the house together. Also, catnip. Like humans, intoxicats tend to make more social felines. Get the older one loopy and they'll generally be a lot nicer from the get-go once they're in the same room.

My friend's actually just adopted a second cat this year, and they're getting along fine now. Siblings have it easier, but you can generally have two happy cats (or more) that aren't as long as you don't dump them in the same house and expect instant harmony.

My parents have a massive 20lbs black cat who thinks he's also part gorrilla and part panther. He was a bit of a nutjob and drove everyone crazy. So we all went to the animal shelter and got an adult orange cat. We picked the biggest cat there but when we got him home he looked like a kitten next to Isaac.

Isaac beat him up like crazy and we were constantly tearing them apart until we realised that the new cat was the one provoking and then we just let them go at it. they just wrestle and chase each other. Cat fights are awesome.

Euler's identity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Euler's identity is considered by many to be remarkable for its mathematical beauty. Three basic arithmetic operations occur exactly once each: addition, multiplication, and exponentiation. The identity also links five fundamental mathematical constants:

Furthermore, in mathematical analysis, equations are commonly written with zero on one side.

Lee Loo vs Mojo is great, love the Fifth Element reference.

Reminds me of Reggie when we first got him, he kept trying to groom Alfie, who only has 1 tooth, and is crotchety and old.

So Alfie finally decides he is sick of these motherfucking kittens on this motherfucking skateboard, and tackles Reggie.

Reggie just lays there like "oh, play time?", as Alfie is busily trying to fang him in the throat "I AM GOING TO END THIS KITTEN!"

haha yea the 5th element reference came from the fact that she fell into our laps out of no where. she is strong because she lived as long as she did in a parking lot away from her mom, but delicate because she is a tiny kitten

by the way max, the picture your story told made me lol

Don't read too much into this equation if you don't understand complex number. What Max posted is correct, but incomplete since it makes Euler's equation look like magic.

    Euler's equation
    Spoiler: show

I don't know if you ever heard of taylors series, but it allows you to express functions as an infinite sum like this
    http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/c/f...4cb409bd9c.png.

If you do the same thing to sin(x) and cos(x) function,
    http://www.ucl.ac.uk/Mathematics/geo...series/ln2.gif
    http://www.ucl.ac.uk/Mathematics/geo...series/ln3.gif

you will be able to come up with Euler's equation relatively easily, as long you know i²= -1
    http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/4/0...470b602d82.png.

    Max's sig
    Spoiler: show

If you replace x with Pi in Euler's equation, you end up with cos (Pi) + i*sin(Pi) = -1 + 0i = -1. The equation in max's sig is basically saying -1+1= 0.

If you don't understand what I'm saying, all you need is to imagine a circle where the coordinate are given by [(cos(x), sin(x)].

    When x = 0, you obtain the point (1, 0)
When x= Pi/2 you obtain the point (0,1)
When x = Pi, you obtain the point (-1,0)
    When x = 3Pi/2, you obtain the point (0,-1)

    e(i*Pi) + e(i*0) = (-1,0) + (1,0) = (0,0) = 0

    or if you prefer
    e(i*Pi) = (-1,0 )

Keep them in separate rooms and let them meet under the door. They will pick up scent and get to know the other cat a bit. There will still likely be some spats with the newly introduced cat once the door is opened, but hopefully meeting a bit first will lessen that.
