I think the most important thing to learn on SMN is to understand how everything relates to the feeble evoker. Basically you make use of strong pets while being a weak, easily oneshottable master : making the best of your vulnerability makes avatars last longer and be more useful.
Example are :
- Oneshotted by AoE because you ran to the party to BP as the mob was doing its WS.
- Paralyzied / Petrified / whatever by a mob's WS (either conal, sight or AoE) wasting the BP you were doing.
- Hate control because you resummoned and cured in the meanwhile and so your new avatar can't grab the mob off you.
- Managing summoning casting time and distance between you and the mob.
All these things I believe are not really related to exp parties. You are way too much protected in a standard exp situation.
And that's why levelling SMN to 75 was terribly boring and such. You only start to play with what makes the job unique when you face BCNMs, Missions and endgame.
This is why those who soloed Bombs are a different story. Soloing takes a lot of management between master and pet and can teach a lot I believe.
